77-Year-Old EYN LCB Kuda Sama Church Celebrates Autonomy: How a Blind Man and a Leper Brought the Gospel
Kuda Sama, October 2025 — The EYN Local Church Council (LCB) Kuda Sama Chueh, located under LCC Tsitsili Shuwa in DCC Mbororo, on Sunday 12 October 2025, has officially celebrated its autonomy after 77 years of active ministry. The celebration was marked by joy, thanksgiving, and reflection on the church’s humble beginnings and divine journey.

The church, now with over 250 members, traces its origin back to 1948 when Musa Pachi a blind man and Giwa Drambi, a leper, began gathering people for worship and fellowship, though the attempt was unsuccessful. The turning point came in 1952, when Bulus Zira, a blind man who went to Garida for medical treatment, encountered the gospel of Christ. Upon returning home, he brought the message of salvation to Kuda Sama, leading to the establishment of a vibrant Christian community that has endured for over seven decades.

Delivering the sermon during the autonomy celebration, Rev. Prof. Dauda A. Gavva from Kulp Theological Seminary preached on the topic “On This Rock I Will Build My Church” (Matthew 16:13–20). He emphasized that the Church is not the physical building but the believers who are built in Christ Jesus.
“The rock on which Christ builds His Church is the faith and foundation of His people,” Rev. Gavva said. “We must see ourselves as living stones, called to make His body grow. Many think they lack wealth, but we must remember that Christ has already blessed us abundantly.”

In his address, EYN Vice President, Rev. Nuhu Mutah Abba, commended the members of Kuda Sama for their faithfulness and urged them to be wise in managing resources. He cautioned against wasteful spending on social trends such as extravagant weddings at the expense of their children’s education and family needs.
“The growth of members is the growth of the Church,” Rev. Abba stated. “Christians must take active roles in politics and community development without engaging in conflict. Gone are the days when we shy away from civic responsibilities—let us shine as lights in our communities without compromising our faith.”

The autonomy service was attended by several EYN leaders and dignitaries, including Rev. Nuhu Mutah Abba (EYN Vice President) and his wife Mrs. Rhoda Nuhu, Rev. Prof. Dauda A. Gavva (Guest Preacher), Rev. Amb. Timta L. Musa (EYN Administrative Secretary), Bro. Ayuba U. Balami (Director of Finance & Economic Growth), Rev. Bitrus Y. Duwara (Director, DRM), Rev. Bulus Mishelia (DCC Secretary, Mbororo), Rev. Mathias Pado (DCC Chairman, Mbororo), and Rev. Dauda Mutah (fromer DCC Secretary, Mbororo). Their presence added honor and encouragement to the historic occasion.

The celebration concluded with prayers for peace and unity within the region, as leaders reaffirmed the church’s mission to remain rooted in Christ while shining as a beacon of hope.
The story of EYN LCB Kuda Sama Church stands as a powerful reminder that God can use anyone—whether blind, leprous, or poor—to build His kingdom. From its humble beginnings in 1948 to an autonomous congregation in 2025, the church continues to testify to the faithfulness of God through generations.
