On Friday, April 19th, 2024, the 77th General Church Council (Majalisa) elected Rev. Dr. Daniel Yusuf Chiroma Mbaya as the new EYN President with an impressive total of 1,112 votes and Rev. Nuhu Mutah Abba was elected as the new Vice President with a noteworthy total of 1,057 votes. It is worth noting that both candidates received the highest number of nominations and ultimately won their respective positions through popular election- a testament to their widespread support among ministers and delegates alike.
Following the voting process, Secretary of the Electoral Committee Bar. Richard Balami announced the results for both President and Vice President. The election was hailed as a landmark moment in church history due to its transparent nature: accreditation was strictly limited to those listed on their respective DCCs’ registration lists submitted to the registry without any additions; ballots were cast openly but secretly, with voters approaching the stage collectively as DCC; and counting procedures were conducted publicly as well.
The newly elected President, Rev. Dr. Daniel Y.C. Mbaya, expressed his gratitude to God with a verse quoted from the book of Isaiah 25:1-6 and pledged to pursue reconciliation aggressively to achieve unity deeply rooted the word of God spiritually numerically and materially.
After the announcement of the result, Rev. Joel S. Billi, the outgoing EYN President, declared that Rev. Bitrus Y. Duwara has been appointed as the new Director of Disaster Relief Management.
The members of the EYN Majalisa have greeted this news with great optimism and enthusiasm, eagerly anticipating a prosperous future under their leadership.
