EYN Makes History with Mass Ordination of Ministers at National Gathering
In a historic and spiritually significant development, the EYN – Church of the Brethren in Nigeria has, for the first time, conducted the ordination and inauguration of ministers during its highest decision-making gathering, the 79th Annual Church Conference (Majalisa).
The President of EYN, Rev. Daniel Y. C. Mbaya, alongside the Secretary to the Ministers Council, Rev. Eli Samuel, presided over the solemn and momentous service.
During the ceremony, a total of 31 ministers were officially inaugurated into different levels of ministry. Fifteen (15) were inducted as Probationary Ministers, while sixteen (16) were elevated and ordained as Full Ministers.
This development marks a major shift in the church’s ministerial practice. Traditionally, ordinations within EYN were conducted at the local church level, following approval by the National Executive Council (NEC). However, this year’s 79th Majalisa introduced a unified, centralized ordination service, bringing together ministers from various regions to be commissioned in one grand, spiritually uplifting gathering.
The move is widely seen as a step toward strengthening unity, standardizing ministerial processes, and elevating the significance of ordination within the life of the church. Conducting the exercise at the 79th Majalisa—the highest gathering of the church—adds deeper meaning, visibility, and collective affirmation from the entire EYN community.
The service was marked by deep moments of prayer, consecration, and commitment, as the newly inaugurated ministers pledged to uphold the teachings of Christ and serve faithfully in their respective fields of ministry.
Church leaders and members alike have described the development as a milestone in the history of EYN, reflecting growth, organizational maturity, and a renewed commitment to structured leadership development.
The 79th Majalisa continues to showcase transformative decisions and spiritual milestones that are shaping the future of the church.

Congratulations
Keep it my Big brother. We are proud of you.
