Hyambula No. 1, DCC Gulak.
Two members of EYN Church Hyambula No. 1, DCC Gulak, were abducted by armed men while returning from their farms, sparking fear and renewed concern over rising insecurity in the area.
The abductors demanded a ransom of ₦2.7 million in addition to food supplies and household items such as spaghetti, noodles, chinchin, phone batteries, mobile phones, shoes, and pesticide.
After days of tense negotiations, the local community rallied together to raise the ransom and provide the demanded items. With the support of families and well-wishers, the victims were eventually released and have since reunited safely with their families. Both victims are currently receiving medical treatment at Cottage Hospital, Gulak.
The incident has heightened anxiety among residents and church members, many of whom depend on farming for survival. While there is gratitude for the safe return of the abductees, community leaders expressed concern over the heavy financial burden placed on poor households to secure the release of loved ones.
The EYN community is appealing to government authorities, security agencies, and stakeholders to urgently intensify efforts toward securing farming communities, restoring peace, and ensuring lasting protection for residents.
They also called on all believers and peace-loving Nigerians to pray for peace, unity, and security, so that citizens can freely access their farmlands and daily activities without fear of abduction.
