Attack on Kwaple Village
Suspected Boko Haram insurgents launched a midnight attack on Kwaple Village, Chibok LGA in Borno State, northeastern Nigeria, in the early hours of April 5, 2026.
The attack occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m., when armed assailants stormed the community, looted farm produce, and set several properties ablaze.
Church and Homes Destroyed
During the attack, a Church and six residential houses were razed by the assailants. Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers moved swiftly through the village, burning structures and carting away food supplies.
Residents said the situation could have been worse if not for the timely arrival of military personnel.
Attackers Flee as Troops Approach
According to local sources, the insurgents fled the scene upon hearing the sound of approaching military trucks. Their quick escape prevented further destruction and possible loss of lives.
As of the time of this report, there are no confirmed casualties, and security authorities are yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
Community Still Recovering from Previous Attack
The latest Boko Haram attack comes less than a year after a similar incident on April 28, 2025, which led to the displacement of many Kwaple residents.
Community members had only recently started returning and rebuilding their homes and livelihoods before this renewed violence struck again.
