Suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgents have attacked Kautikari community in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, killing one person MMr. Amdan Okale also setting a primary school and a secondary school ablaze.
The attack reportedly occurred on Saturday evening at about 7 p.m., forcing residents to flee into nearby bushes for safety.
Sources within the community disclosed that the attackers invaded the village and set fire to Kautikari Primary School and the Government Day Secondary School, destroying parts of the educational facilities.
A security source from the area confirmed the incident, saying residents were caught unawares as the insurgents stormed the community.
“We heard they came in the evening and set the schools on fire. People ran into the bushes to save their lives,” the source said.
As of the time of filing this report, there was no official confirmation regarding casualties or possible abductions, while efforts to obtain comments from security authorities were still ongoing.
Kautikari, one of the communities in Chibok LGA, has witnessed repeated attacks by insurgents, raising concerns over the security situation in the area and the safety of educational institutions.
