A historic moment unfolded in Bornoma on Sunday, June 22, 2025, as the Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria (EYN) officially granted autonomy to the Local Church Branch (LCB) Bornoma, now operating as a Local Church Council (LCC) under LCC Sangere. The occasion, marked by deep spiritual reflection and national urgency, was led by the EYN President, Rev. Daniel Y.C. Mbaya, PhD, alongside the Administrative Secretary, Rev. Amb. Timta L. Musa.

The President used the momentous event not only to celebrate church growth but also to issue a prophetic call to action amid Nigeria’s socio-political turmoil. Lamenting the nation’s increasing insecurity, injustice, and moral breakdown, he declared:
“Nigeria is grappling with too many challenges — corruption, insecurity, broken leadership — and the only true hope left is the Church. If we don’t get it right in the Church, we won’t get it right anywhere.”
While LCB Bornoma celebrated its transition into autonomy, other EYN leaders — the General Secretary, Rev. James K. Musa, and the Director of Education, Rev. Daniel I. Yumuna — were on a concurrent assignment at DCC Mbila-Malabu, symbolizing a synchronized effort to deepen EYN’s reach and impact across Nigeria.

Bornoma’s journey began on December 11, 2016, during the pastoral leadership of Rev. Amb. Timta L. Musa at LCC Sangere and Rev. Ezra Dawui as DCC Secretary of Sealang Viniklang. Today, it stands as a testimony to the church’s commitment to spiritual growth, local empowerment, and missional expansion.

A Call to Serve, Not Just to Celebrate
In his keynote address, Rev. Mbaya emphasized that autonomy is not a status symbol but a weighty responsibility. Drawing from Philippians 4:4-7, he encouraged the congregation to increase in love, mutual support, and faith in Christ.
“Having an LCC is not just a title. It means work — real work. Your love for each other must grow. Your service must grow. And your faith must grow. Let Christ be seen in your lifestyle,” he said.
He challenged the elders to give attention to the younger generation, stating that “Africa is the future of the Church,” and that young people and children must be intentionally discipled with a “Christ-alive attitude.” He urged the elders to guide them in unity and spiritual maturity, especially in times like this when the world is searching for direction.

A Chosen Nation With a Divine Mandate
The President reminded the congregation that Christians are a “chosen race, a royal priesthood,” called to reflect the light of Christ in a world shrouded in darkness. He emphasized that true growth goes beyond numbers — it includes substance and spiritual quality.
“Is Christ seen in you?” he asked. “We must show our identity as believers. We are not just adding churches; we are building the Kingdom of God.”
The occasion featured special musical renditions, solemn prayers for the new LCC, and a charge for every member to take their spiritual oath seriously. Rev. Mbaya concluded by urging the new LCC leadership to deepen their prayer life and keep hope alive, knowing that ultimate transformation will come only through Jesus Christ.
As EYN continues to expand across the nation, the autonomy of LCC Bornoma stands not just as a structural milestone but as a beacon of hope, reminding all that the church — when alive, united, and Christ-centered — remains the last fortress of truth in a broken world.
reaching during the service, Rev. Amb. Timta L. Musa reminded the Bornoma congregation that autonomy is not a moment of rest but a launching pad into deeper responsibility.
“This autonomy you have received is not for decoration — it is an assignment. God is giving you this opportunity so that you can serve better, pray deeper, and impact wider. A church must be the heartbeat of the community.”

He urged the members to see the church not as a building but as a living body of believers assigned to bring healing, hope, and holiness to their environment. He warned against complacency and emphasized that every position in the church, from pulpit to pew, carries a responsibility to reflect Christ.
“If Bornoma will grow, it must grow in faith, in love, and in purity. This autonomy is God’s trust. Don’t break it,” he said passionately.
