EYN President Rev. Dr. Daniel Y. C. Mbaya charges members to remain steadfast in love, giving, and commitment to God at DCC Kindag Church Autonomy.

The spirit of church autonomy was joyfully celebrated as the Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria (EYN) marked a remarkable milestone in its mission expansion. The event saw DCC Marama officially granting autonomy to one District Church Council (DCC) — DCC Kidang, and two Local Church Councils (LCCs) — LCC Minta-Badar and LCC Whita-Mbaya. Held on Sunday, the ceremony attracted over a thousand worshippers who gathered to witness the growth and independence of these church bodies under the EYN structure.

In his address before the autonomy ceremony, Rev. Daniel Y. C. Mbaya, PhD, EYN President expressed heartfelt greetings from the EYN Headquarters, reminding the congregation that “God said He will build His church on Jesus.” He explained that church autonomy signifies spiritual maturity, growth in responsibility, and deeper commitment to God’s work. He urged the newly autonomous churches to be “light in darkness and salt in the world,” emphasizing that love, giving, and dedication to God must increase as they embrace their new status.

Rev. Mbaya also disclosed that he recently met with the President of Nigeria, where discussions focused on the country’s challenges, particularly in the northern region. He noted that the national leader assured him of plans to ease the suffering of Nigerians. The event also marked Rev. Mbaya’s first church autonomy ceremony since his return from Switzerland, symbolizing a renewed focus on strengthening the church’s local structures.
Delivering the sermon titled “Freedom,” Rev. Evang. Musa Daniel Mbaya, the Director of Missions, took his text from Jeremiah 34:8–10, explaining that true freedom comes only through Christ. He prayed that the newly autonomous DCC and LCCs would remain faithful and never revert to spiritual dependence.
“We have received enough blessings from God; let us not be lazy but build our churches,” he admonished, cautioning those in the diaspora not to neglect their home congregations while prospering abroad.
He further emphasized that church autonomy must lead to spiritual transformation and community impact, stressing that “whoever calls himself a Christian but fails to follow God’s teachings is a liar.” He urged members to allow the change to begin within themselves, their families, and their neighboring communities.

The EYN Headquarters delegation to the ceremony comprised Rev. (Dr.) Daniel Y. C. Mbaya, EYN President; Bro. Ayuba U. Balami, Director of Finance and Economic Growth; Mrs. Hassana Habu, Director of Women Ministry; Rev. Bitrus Y. Duwara, Director of Disaster Relief Management; and Rev. Evang. Musa Daniel Mbaya, Director of Missions.

The church autonomy celebration at DCC Marama is more than an administrative development — it represents the spiritual, numerical, and organizational growth of the EYN family, reaffirming its mission to spread the gospel and strengthen the body of Christ across communities.
