A capacity building workshop for District Church Council (DCC) Secretaries has been held at the EYN Headquarters in Kwarhi, bringing together administrative leaders from across the EYN – Church of the Brethren in Nigeria.

The workshop, which took place from 27 to 30 January, included step-down training delivered by six EYN Directors who recently attended leadership training at the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities Africa (CORAT) in Kenya. Participants also received training on effective committee management, led by the EYN Administrative Secretary, Rev. Amb. Timta L. Musa.

The programme was organised by the General Secretary of the church, Rev. James K. Musa, who works closely with District Secretaries in coordinating administrative activities across EYN.

The EYN President, Rev. Daniel Y. C. Mbaya, PhD, attended the workshop and addressed participants, describing DCC Secretaries as “the eyes of the church” and urging them to see their roles as both administrative and spiritual responsibilities.

“You are leaders whose actions are closely observed by church members,” Rev. Mbaya said. “Your conduct must reflect integrity, discipline and commitment, because leadership comes with accountability.”

He continued.

“Unity in the church cannot be achieved through words alone,” he said. “It requires sincerity, discipline and a willingness to work together in love.”

The EYN President further stressed the importance of translating vision into action, noting that progress requires deliberate effort.

“Dreams and visions only become reality when there is action,” Rev. Mbaya said. “Nothing is achieved without commitment and hard work.”

The workshop forms part of EYN’s ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership capacity, administrative effectiveness and coordination across its districts.
