Members of the Standing Committee of DCC Yimirshika have been equipped with practical and biblical leadership principles during a workshop designed to strengthen stewardship, accountability, integrity and effective church administration.

The training centered on five critical areas considered essential for effective church leadership:

  • Stewardship
  • Accountability
  • Integrity
  • Situation (Conflict) Management
  • Communication

The sessions were facilitated by Bro. Ayuba Balami, Director of Finance, EYN – Church of the Brethren in Nigeria; Bro. Barde Madu, Treasurer of DCC Yimirshika; and Rev. Bulus I. Dibal, DCC Secretary, Yimirshika.

Drawing from both Scripture and practical leadership experience, the facilitators encouraged participants to become faithful stewards who lead with honesty, responsibility and commitment to God’s work.

Leaders urged to examine themselves

A major highlight of the workshop was the emphasis on personal character as the foundation of effective leadership.

Following extensive discussions and group interactions, participants concluded that failures in stewardship, accountability and integrity often begin with the individual.

The facilitators challenged church leaders to continually examine themselves, stressing that faithful stewardship begins with personal integrity and a willingness to remain accountable before God and the church.

They reminded participants that lasting change in leadership starts with self-discipline, transparency and a commitment to biblical values.

Communication is complete when the message is understood

Speaking on communication, the facilitators emphasized that communication is successful only when the listener clearly hears, understands and correctly interprets the intended message.

Participants were encouraged to communicate with clarity, patience and humility, noting that effective communication strengthens relationships, promotes teamwork and reduces misunderstanding within the church.

Biblical conflict management promotes unity

During the session on situation management, with particular emphasis on conflict resolution, participants were encouraged to follow the biblical pattern outlined in Matthew 18:15.

The facilitators explained that leaders should seek to resolve disagreements privately before taking additional steps, noting that biblical conflict resolution helps preserve unity, restore relationships and strengthen the body of Christ.

Participants encouraged to apply the lessons

The workshop concluded with a call for participants to put the knowledge gained into practice within their various congregations and ministries.

Church leaders were reminded that stewardship is not limited to finances but also includes the responsible management of people, time, opportunities and the resources God has entrusted to His church.

Participants expressed appreciation for the practical nature of the training and its relevance to the challenges of contemporary church leadership.

DCC Secretary expresses appreciation

At the close of the workshop, Rev. Bulus I. Dibal, DCC Secretary of Yimirshika, gave thanks to God for His protection and guidance throughout the programme.

He expressed sincere appreciation to the facilitators for sharing their knowledge and practical experiences, describing the workshop as timely and impactful.
