In a passionate pursuit to equip the body of Christ with the tools for effective soul-winning and discipleship, the EYN Department of Mission has successfully organized a Gospel Presentation and Follow-Up Course, in collaboration with FIRM Foundation in Christ Ministries (FFCM), Jos. The impactful training program was held at the EYN Headquarters in Kwarhi and drew participants from various District Church Councils (DCCs), Local Church Councils (LCCs), and mission stations.

The training aimed at deepening participants’ understanding of evangelism strategies and the importance of intentional follow-up after the gospel is preached. It emphasized the need to disciple new converts and integrate them into the church body for spiritual growth and sustainability.

Rev. Musa Daniel Mbaya, Director of Mission, EYN, during his welcome address, highlighted the growing need for churches to not only evangelize but also to nurture those who come to Christ. “Our calling is not just to preach the good news, but to walk alongside new believers in their journey of faith. This is why the follow-up process is essential,” he said.

The training featured a rich lineup of facilitators from FIRM Foundation Ministries, Jos, a gospel-centered organization renowned for using film as a tool for evangelism and discipleship. Participants were exposed to both theoretical and practical sessions, including topics such as:

  • Effective Gospel Communication
  • Biblical Foundations for Follow-Up
  • Discipling New Believers
  • Use of Visual Media in Evangelism
  • Church-Based Strategies for Retention

Speaking on behalf of FIRM Foundation Ministries, Rev. Samuel Dashe appreciated the partnership with EYN and commended the church for its evangelistic vision. “We believe the Great Commission is a mandate to go, preach, and teach. This collaboration with EYN has demonstrated a shared commitment to that mission,” he remarked.

The participants expressed gratitude for the initiative and testified to the life-transforming nature of the course. Mary Ishaya, one of the trainees from Gombi DCC, shared, “This course has opened my eyes to the importance of nurturing new believers with love, patience, and the word of God. I feel more equipped to follow up with those we reach in the mission field.”

As part of the training, participants engaged in field practicals where they shared the gospel in surrounding communities using short films, tracts, and one-on-one conversations. Many reported positive responses and valuable learning experiences.

The closing session witnessed the issuance of certificates to participants and a renewed commitment to aggressive but compassionate evangelism across EYN’s mission fields. Rev. Kumai encouraged all attendees to return to their respective churches and apply what they have learned, stressing that evangelism and follow-up must be a continuous lifestyle rather than a one-time event.

This collaboration between EYN Department of Mission and FIRM Foundation Ministries marks a significant step toward a more strategic and holistic evangelism approach within the denomination. It is hoped that such partnerships and trainings will be sustained and extended to other regions in the coming months.
