A Historic Day for EYC LCB Amsa Cameroon
Joy and celebration filled the air on Sunday, 19th October 2025, as EYC LCB Amsa, under LCC Drang, DCC Zah, held its Autonomy Service, officially becoming the first Local Church Council (LCC) in Cameroon.

The historic event represents a major step forward for the mission of Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Cameroon (EYC), a branch of Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria (EYN), showcasing the spread of the Gospel and the maturity of the church in the region.

From 21 Members to an Autonomous Congregation
EYC LCB Amsa began its journey on 16th April 2006 under the leadership of Rev. Musa Yade, with just 21 pioneering members. Through faith, perseverance, and the commitment of her leaders and members, the congregation has now grown into a thriving church community under Evangelist Michel Luka, reaching this remarkable milestone of autonomy.

Sermon by Rev. Evang. Musa D. Mbaya: “The Grace of God”
The sermon of the day was delivered by Rev. Evang. Musa D. Mbaya, EYN Director of Mission, who preached on the theme “The Grace of God,” drawn from Titus 3:1–3 & 7 and Titus 2:11–14.

Rev. Mbaya explained that the church’s name, “Amsa,” meaning “to answer” in Hausa, beautifully symbolizes its response to God’s grace. He emphasized that to fully receive God’s grace, believers must dedicate themselves wholly to Christ—living humbly, faithfully, and truthfully in the Spirit.

He urged members to avoid divisions and arguments, stressing that unity and humility are key to church growth and spiritual strength. “The freedom given to you through autonomy,” he said, “is not for separation, but for the advancement of the Gospel, so that very soon, this village will raise its own DCC.”

EYN Vice President Commends the Church
In his remarks, Rev. Nuhu Mutah Abba, Vice President of EYN, expressed deep appreciation for the pastors and leaders who have labored faithfully in Cameroon, often far from home. He praised their steadfastness and courage, particularly those working in culturally diverse communities like Amsa.

Rev. Abba, who attended with his wife Mrs. Rhoda Nuhu, encouraged the newly autonomous congregation to focus on spiritual and numerical growth, reflecting the light and love of Christ. He prayed for the pastors and doffed his cap in respect for their dedication.

Also present were Rev. Prof. Dauda A. Gavva (Kulp Theological Seminary), Rev. Amb. Timta L. Musa (EYN Administrative Secretary), and Mrs. Hassana Habu (Director of Women’s Ministry).
Words of Encouragement and Charge
Speaking at the event, Lawan Kwaji Bitrus Tumba expressed gratitude to the LCC Pastor of Drang for his leadership and support during the transition. He encouraged the new LCC leadership and members to remain united and committed to building the church to greater heights, reminding them that autonomy comes with responsibility and accountability before God.

A New Chapter for the Gospel in Cameroon
The autonomy of EYC LCB Amsa marks a defining moment in the history of the church’s mission in Cameroon. It stands as a testament to God’s faithfulness and to the tireless efforts of men and women who answered His call to spread the Gospel.
As the first Local Church Council in Cameroon, EYC Amsa is now positioned to serve as a model of unity, discipleship, and growth, continuing to answer the grace of God with commitment and service.
