The EYN family, friends, and well-wishers gathered in solemn reflection to celebrate the life and faith of Late Rev. Jacob Janye, who passed on January 9, 2026. His funeral service was held at EYN LCC Kubi, DCC Watu, in Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State, drawing ministers and members from across the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria.
Presiding over the service, EYN Vice President, Rev. Nuhu Mutah Abba, read from Deuteronomy 8:6–8 and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the widow, Mrs. Maryamu Janye, and her children. He described the passing of a believer as “a moment of glory both on earth and in heaven,” reminding the congregation that those who labor in God’s vineyard gain an extended family within the body of Christ.

Rev. Abba emphasized that the strong fellowship demonstrated by pastors present at the burial was itself a sermon—one that speaks louder than words to the church. He urged believers to love one another genuinely and to keep their focus on God rather than distractions of little eternal value. Prayers were offered for God’s comfort upon the bereaved family and the entire church, as the late Rev. Janye was remembered and honored as a man of peace.

Earlier in the service, the biography of the deceased was read by his son, Pastor Reuben Jacob, who recounted that Rev. Jacob Janye was born in 1965. After serving in government employment, he answered the call to ministry and enrolled in Pastors’ School in 1996, committing the rest of his life to the service of God and His people.
Delivering the sermon, Rev. Nuhu Reuben reflected on the reality of death, describing it as “a sickness that only troubles us when it comes close.” While acknowledging the pain of mourning, he reminded the congregation of Christ’s promise: “I go to prepare a place for you.” He contrasted earthly possessions with the eternal home prepared by God—a dwelling free from suffering and decay.
He also offered a sobering reflection on modern life, warning that beyond physical chemicals harming the body, human attitudes have also become “toxic” to one another. He called on believers to examine their conduct and allow God to cleanse every attitude that could hinder their journey to their heavenly home.

The funeral service was attended by several leaders from EYN Headquarters, including Rev. Nuhu Mutah Abba, Vice President; Rev. James K. Musa, General Secretary, and his wife Mrs. Kanna James; Bro. Ayuba Balami, Director of Finance and Economic Development; Rev. Amb. Timta Luka Musa, Administrative Secretary; Rev. Eli Samuel, Secretary to the Ministers’ Council, and his wife; Rev. Bitrus Y. Duwara, Director of DRM; Rev. Daniel I. Yumuna, Director of Education; Rev. Evang. Musa D. Mbaya, Director of Missions; Rev. John Musa, PEM Coordinator; Rev. Barka Dali, Deputy Director of DRM; Rev. Musa Arhadila, EYN Hotelier; and Mrs. Rosa Andrew, Principal, Theological Education by Extension.
As hymns faded and prayers concluded, the gathering stood as a testimony to a life lived in service, peace, and faith—leaving behind a legacy that continues to speak to the church he loved.
