EYN Church Autonomy was celebrated with joy as EYN – Church of the Brethren in Nigeria officially granted Local Church Council (LCC) status to LCB Degereji and LCB Gangrang, formerly under EYN LCC Gombi No. 1. The autonomy ceremony was conducted under the leadership of the EYN President, Rev. Daniel Y. C. Mbaya, PhD, marking another milestone in the church’s commitment to strengthening local congregations and advancing its mission.
Members of both congregations expressed gratitude and rejoiced as they received recognition as independent Local Church Councils, describing the occasion as a significant step in their spiritual and administrative development.

Church autonomy is an important stage in the growth of EYN congregations. It recognizes the maturity of a local church to carry out its ministry, leadership responsibilities, and mission as a fully established Local Church Council.
The granting of autonomy to LCB Degereji and LCB Gangrang reflects EYN’s continued efforts to strengthen church governance and expand the ministry of the church across communities.
EYN Church Autonomy Strengthens Local Ministry
During the ceremony, Rev. Daniel Y. C. Mbaya, PhD, encouraged members of the newly established Local Church Councils to remain faithful to the teachings of Christ and to continue serving God with dedication, unity, and integrity.
He emphasized that attaining LCC status carries both opportunities and responsibilities, calling on church leaders and members to promote evangelism, discipleship, good leadership, and community service.
The EYN President further encouraged the congregations to uphold biblical values while working together to advance the mission of the church within their respective communities.

The granting of autonomy was received with celebration by members of both churches, who thanked God for the opportunity to become independent Local Church Councils.
Church members described the development as a long-awaited achievement that reflects years of commitment, spiritual growth, and faithful service within the EYN family.
The event was marked by thanksgiving, prayers, and expressions of appreciation to the EYN leadership for supporting the churches throughout the process.
The establishment of LCC Degereji and LCC Gangrang is expected to strengthen church administration, improve local decision-making, and create additional opportunities for evangelism, discipleship, and community development.
The autonomy also demonstrates EYN’s ongoing commitment to empowering congregations to serve their communities more effectively while expanding the church’s mission across Nigeria.

As LCB Degereji and LCB Gangrang begin their new journey as Local Church Councils, EYN has encouraged their leaders and members to remain united in faith, committed to biblical leadership, and focused on advancing the Gospel.
The church expressed confidence that the newly autonomous congregations will continue to grow spiritually, strengthen their communities, and contribute meaningfully to the mission of EYN – Church of the Brethren in Nigeria.
