The EYN Church of the Brethren in Nigeria bids farewell to its former leader, Rev. Abraham Wuta Tizhe, who passed away on Friday, May 10th, 2024. Rev. Tizhe was laid to rest on 17th May, 2024 in his residence in Watu, surrounded by his loving family, including his wife Mrs. Ladi Abraham Wuta, children, and other relatives, as well as EYN clergy, friends, and well-wishers from the Watu community.
Rev. Dr. Daniel Y.C. Mbaya, President of EYN, delivered a heartfelt condolence message, paying tribute to Rev. Tizhe’s life and legacy. He quoted Psalms 90:1-6, emphasizing verse 6, which reminds us that our life on earth is temporary. President Mbaya acknowledged that death always brings new grief, and we can never get used to it, no matter how often it occurs. He expressed regret that the church will miss the opportunity to tap into Rev. Wuta’s wisdom and ideas, which were renowned for their intelligence and uniqueness.
Rev. Joel S. Billi, former EYN President and current President of TEKAN churches, extended his condolences to the EYN President and the entire EYN Church on behalf of TEKAN. In his message, Rev. Billi poignantly reminded us that “life is like a vapor, and in the twinkling of an eye, we will be gone.”
In a sermon, Rev. James K. Musa, the EYN General Secretary, urged all Christians to put their house in order, as death will surely come. He read 2nd Kings 20:1-6, explaining that just like King Hezekiah, leaders often become power-drunk and turn against God when they are exalted by others. However, he emphasized that God’s love, grace, and mercy are sufficient, and He is always willing to accept us back when we set our hearts right and turn from our evil ways.
May Rev. Abraham Wuta Tizhe’s memory continue to inspire and guide us, and may his legacy live on through the countless lives he touched.”
