EYN – Church of the Brethren in Nigeria Expands with New Local Church Branch
The EYN – Church of the Brethren in Nigeria continues to grow its spiritual presence with the official opening of a new Local Church Branch (LCB) at Fori Balekanuri, located behind Giwa Barracks. The landmark event, held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, was a celebration of faith, unity, and mission expansion by the EYN Local Church Council (LCC) Polo.
Presiding over the opening, Rev. Abraham Chandumi, Resident Pastor EYN LCC Polo, DCC Maisandari, Maiduguri Borno State, expressed gratitude to God for the successful establishment of the branch, describing it as a “divine victory” and a major step in expanding the church’s reach. “This new branch is not just a building; it is a sacred home where lives will be transformed and faith will flourish,” he said. Rev. Chandumi encouraged the congregation to see the new LCB as a place for worship, fellowship, and spiritual development that will strengthen their relationship with God.
Preaching on the theme “The Church as the Body of Christ” from Matthew 13:16–20, Rev. Chandumi reminded members that the Church’s true nature is revealed through divine understanding. He emphasized that Jesus Christ is both the founder and foundation of the Church. “Every believer has a vital role in building the Body of Christ; no one is insignificant in the work of God,” he added.
Despite initial resistance from some community leaders and village heads who requested that permission be sought before services began, the inaugural worship was held successfully, marking a moment of triumph for the church. Rev. Chandumi described the occasion as “a victory of faith over opposition,” commending the courage and unity of the believers.
The newly established EYN LCB Fori Balekanuri symbolizes the ongoing growth of the EYN – Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, reflecting its unwavering vision of being a united, living church deeply rooted in the Word of God, and committed to spiritual, numerical, and material prosperity.
This milestone further aligns with the church’s long-term mission to bring the light of Christ to every community, empowering believers to live faithfully and impact society positively.
