EYN DCC Sabongari Puba Welcomes New District Secretary, Observes CAN’s Black Sunday

EYN DCC Sabongari Puba on Sunday held a special welcoming service for its District Church Council (DCC) Secretary while also joining Christians across Nigeria in observing the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN)’s Black Sunday.

The service, which took place on July 14, brought together church leaders, members, and guests in an atmosphere of worship, fellowship, and reflection.

The congregation formally received the  Rev. Luka Yerima, DCC Secretary, Sabon Gari and prayed for God’s wisdom, strength, and guidance as he assumes his responsibilities within the district.

The event also served as an opportunity for the district to participate in the nationwide Black Sunday observance declared by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). The solemn occasion was marked by prayers for peace, security, and comfort for families affected by violence and insecurity across the country.

In attendance was the Principal of the Lassa Bible School, who joined church members and leaders in the special service. Also present was a representative from the EYN – Church of the Brethren in Nigeria Headquarters, who conveyed goodwill messages and encouraged members to remain steadfast in faith and united in advancing the mission of the church.

Speaking during the service, church leaders emphasized the importance of prayer, unity, and commitment to the work of God, especially during challenging times facing communities and the nation.

The gathering concluded with prayers for the newly welcomed DCC Secretary, the church, and the nation, reaffirming the congregation’s commitment to spiritual growth, peace, and service to God and humanity.
