On Monday, March 16, 2026, the outreach by EYN – Church of the Brethren in Nigeria was not just another humanitarian intervention—it was a powerful reminder that even in the darkest valleys, compassion still finds a way.

A People Displaced, Yet Not Forgotten

The beneficiaries, mostly families from Gwoza Local Government Area, have endured years of displacement. Many had once sought refuge across the border in Cameroon during the peak of insurgency in northeastern Nigeria.

Now returned, they face a new battle—survival in fragile conditions. With homes destroyed and livelihoods lost, their reality is marked by makeshift shelters, hunger, and limited access to healthcare. Yet, despite everything, they remain standing.

EYN Disaster Relief Management Steps In

Led by the Director, Rev. Bitrus Y. Duwara, alongside Deputy Director Rev. Barka Dali and Coordinator Mrs. Rhoda Isa, the outreach team arrived with both material aid and a deeper mission—to restore dignity and hope.

Two medical personnel accompanied the team, providing urgent healthcare services to the most vulnerable—children, women, and the elderly whose silent suffering often goes unnoticed.

The message acknowledged their pain—the years of uncertainty, loss, and displacement. Yet, it carried reassurance: they are not forgotten. The Church stands with them, lifting them in prayer and believing in a future where restoration will replace suffering.

Faith in the Face of Hardship

Relief That Restores Dignity

At the same time, the medical team attended to the sick, offering treatment, consultations, and health advice—interventions that may well save lives in a place where healthcare is scarce.
