EYN Disaster Relief Management Brings Hope to 300 Displaced Families in Adamawa
In a moment where despair once overshadowed daily life, EYN Disaster Relief Management has rekindled hope for more than 300 displaced households in Gada Baba, a settlement in Fufure Local Government Area.

On Monday, March 16, 2026, the outreach by EYN – Church of the Brethren in Nigeria was not just another humanitarian intervention—it was a powerful reminder that even in the darkest valleys, compassion still finds a way.
A People Displaced, Yet Not Forgotten
The beneficiaries, mostly families from Gwoza Local Government Area, have endured years of displacement. Many had once sought refuge across the border in Cameroon during the peak of insurgency in northeastern Nigeria.
Now returned, they face a new battle—survival in fragile conditions. With homes destroyed and livelihoods lost, their reality is marked by makeshift shelters, hunger, and limited access to healthcare. Yet, despite everything, they remain standing.
EYN Disaster Relief Management Steps In
Led by the Director, Rev. Bitrus Y. Duwara, alongside Deputy Director Rev. Barka Dali and Coordinator Mrs. Rhoda Isa, the outreach team arrived with both material aid and a deeper mission—to restore dignity and hope.

Two medical personnel accompanied the team, providing urgent healthcare services to the most vulnerable—children, women, and the elderly whose silent suffering often goes unnoticed.
The reception was heartfelt. Smiles, though worn by hardship, reflected gratitude. For many, this visit meant more than food—it meant being seen.
A Message of Hope from Leadership
Before the distribution began, the director, conveyed the message from the EYN President, Rev. Daniel Y. C. Mbaya, was delivered.
The message acknowledged their pain—the years of uncertainty, loss, and displacement. Yet, it carried reassurance: they are not forgotten. The Church stands with them, lifting them in prayer and believing in a future where restoration will replace suffering.
Faith in the Face of Hardship
Addressing the gathering, Rev. Biturs Y. Duwara, EYN Director of DRM spoke not just as a leader, but as a voice of encouragement.
He urged the displaced families to hold firmly to their faith, reminding them that their current condition is temporary and does not define their destiny. His words resonated deeply—echoing strength into weary hearts.

He emphasized that even in a time of economic hardship across the nation, God continues to provide—using the Church as a vessel of compassion.
Relief That Restores Dignity
As food distribution commenced, order and fairness ensured every household received essential supplies. For families who had gone days uncertain of their next meal, this was more than relief—it was survival.
At the same time, the medical team attended to the sick, offering treatment, consultations, and health advice—interventions that may well save lives in a place where healthcare is scarce.

In an additional gesture of compassion, small financial support was also extended, helping families meet urgent personal needs.
While acknowledging their struggles, Rev. Duwara encouraged the community not to lose their industrious spirit. He reminded them that the people of Gwoza are known for resilience and hard work.
Even in displacement, he urged them to seek ways to rebuild their lives, however small the steps may seem.
Hope Rekindled in Gada Baba
In closing, the camp pastor expressed profound gratitude to EYN and its Disaster Relief Management team. According to him, the intervention brought not only physical relief but something even more powerful—renewed hope.
Hope that tomorrow can be better.
Hope that they are not abandoned.
Hope that their story is not over.
