The EYN Disaster Relief Management (DRM) has distributed food and non-food items to 375 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at the Brethren IDP Camp in Luvu, Karu, LGA of Nasarawa State.

The intervention, funded by EYN partners, Church of the Brethren in USA and Mission 21 in Switzerland included a 4-day free Medical Services by the DRM at the camp.
According to Mr. Zakariya Musa, DRM Project Officer, the food items included Rice, Maize, Cooking oil, Maggi cubes, Salt and baby food for lactating mothers while the Non-food items comprised Toilet soap, Detergent, Dignity kits, Deodorant, Pomade and Underwear. The distribution was based on family size, with non-food items specifically given to young girls.

Director of the DRM, Rev. Bitrus Y. Duwara cautioned the IDPs against wayward behaviors in the camp, sharing some of the negative experiences and plight of 18,000 EYN members in Minawao refugee camp. He equally encouraged the IDPs to work towards building a sustainable life without necessarily depending on palliatives.

Some of the challenge identified by the DRM during the response visit are lack of school at the camp, lack of proper hygiene and poor shelter.
