EYN Empowers Staff with Digital Skills in Workshop on Quality Blog Creation

The EYN- Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, recently organized a transformative five-day workshop at its headquarters in Kwarhi, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State. The workshop aimed to equip staff with essential skills in blog creation and maintenance, as part of efforts to modernize the church’s media and ICT operations.

Led by digital media expert Vangawa Bolgent, the training focused on transitioning the church’s traditional communication methods to cutting-edge digital practices.

Mr. Mbursa Jinatu, head of EYN’s Media Unit, underscored the importance of adopting new technology to keep pace with the evolving media landscape.

“It’s crucial for us to embrace advanced digital practices to improve our media operations and outreach,” Jinatu emphasized, urging participants to fully engage with the new tools and strategies introduced.

Bolgent highlighted the global shift toward digital content dissemination, noting that over 600 million blogs now exist worldwide, demonstrating the potential for blogging as a career or side hustle.

Participants learned key aspects of digital media, including blog and website creation, content monetization, and techniques for producing original and engaging material.

One participant, Indagiju Ijadi, expressed excitement about her newly acquired knowledge, saying, “This is my first time learning about blogging, and based on the training, I see that it’s something worth exploring.”

Mr. Peter Kwaji from the Rural Development Agricultural Department reflected on the workshop’s relevance, particularly for revitalizing the department’s communication efforts. He recalled that while the department once thrived as a major poultry supplier, a lack of technological innovation had stifled its growth.

Joshua Illiya, a member of the ICT Unit, hailed the workshop as long overdue. “This training is something we’ve been waiting for, and it’s amazing that EYN has finally made it a reality,” he said.

EYN President, Rev. Dr. Daniel Y.C. Mbaya, reassured attendees that the church’s management would continue to invest in staff training. He emphasized the importance of integrating technology into their work while maintaining the church’s spiritual and moral values.

The workshop is expected to usher in a new era of digital engagement for EYN, with staff now better equipped to create and manage blogs that enhance the church’s outreach efforts.
