EYN Leadership Pays Courtesy Visit to Huba Chiefdom

The leadership of EYN – Church of the Brethren in Nigeria has paid a high-level courtesy visit to the Huba Chiefdom in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, as part of efforts to strengthen relations between the church and traditional institutions and to promote peace and community development.

The visit took place on Thursday, 29 January 2026, and was led by the EYN President, Rev. Daniel Y. C. Mbaya, PhD.

Members of the delegation included the EYN President, Rev. Daniel Y. C. Mbaya, PhD, EYN Vice President, Rev. Nuhu M. Abba; Rev. Eli Samuel, Secretary of the Ministers Council; Rev. Evang. Musa D. Mbaya, Director of Mission; Rev. Bitrus Y. Duwara, Director of Disaster Relief Management; and Bro. Ayuba Usman Balami, Director of Finance and Economic Development.

President Mbaya’s Remarks

Speaking during the visit, Rev. Mbaya said the engagement was aimed at reinforcing cooperation between the church and traditional leadership for the benefit of local communities. He emphasized the need to restore communal values and collective responsibility within Huba land.

He encouraged His Royal Majesty, Barr. Alheri Bulus Nyako, Tol Huba, to mobilise district, village, and ward heads to maintain proper records of residents, noting that such measures could contribute to improved community security and social cohesion.

The EYN President also appealed for sustained efforts to promote peace and safety in farming communities across the chiefdom, mentioning areas including Kopre, Garaha Mojili, Zah, Mubang, Kudla, Dabna, Larh, Washim, Dugwaba, Garaha Dutse, Mayo-Ladde, Bitsirhuya, Kinging, and Banga.

He expressed condolences to families affected by violence and loss, offering prayers for healing and restoration. Citing Proverbs 29:2, Rev. Mbaya prayed for a reign marked by peace, justice, and prosperity under the leadership of the Tol Huba. A prayer session for the chiefdom and the wider Huba land was later led by the EYN Vice President, Rev. Nuhu M. Abba.

Response from the Tol Huba

In his response, His Royal Majesty, Barr. Alheri Bulus Nyako, welcomed the EYN leadership and thanked them for the visit. He described EYN as a key partner in social and spiritual development within Hong Local Government Area.

The monarch commended the church’s contributions through its ministers and humanitarian initiatives, noting that EYN’s activities have had a positive impact on communities across the region. He requested continued prayers for wisdom and guidance in the discharge of his responsibilities.

He reaffirmed that unity, peace, security, and development remain central priorities of the Huba Chiefdom, adding that the Word of God continues to guide the kingdom’s vision and leadership.

The visit highlighted ongoing collaboration between faith-based institutions and traditional leadership in Adamawa State, reflecting a shared commitment to peacebuilding, community development, and the promotion of moral and spiritual values.
