EYN Continues to suffer Fresh Attacks, how much is Enough, Before the Government takes Decisive Measures?
The EYN, DCC Gulak is mourning the tragic loss of Mr. Simon Ijabula, 58, and his son, Mr. Yakubu Simon, 35, who were killed in a brutal attack by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.
The assault occurred on July 1, 2025, at about 2:00 p.m. in Pambula, where the victims were working on their farmland. Mr. Ndatsada Yarasada, 55, was also confirmed dead, while several others remain missing.

A burial service for Mr. Simon Ijabula and his son was held on July 2, 2025, officiated by Rev. Solomon Irmiya, Resident Pastor of EYN Local Church Council (LCC) Bakin Dutse. In addition, yesterday, four (4) of EYN Members were reported killed in a fresh attack in Madagali, where some women were reportedly abducted during the attack, raising further concern about the worsening security situation in the area. Madagali and Gulak are just under the LGA area with the villages of the attacks in close proximity.
In response, the EYN leadership has strongly condemned the attack and issued a call to the government at all levels to act swiftly and decisively to protect innocent civilians. The church emphasized that with the rainy season now underway, many rural villagers depend on farming for survival and cannot afford to live in constant fear of violence or abduction.
“The continuous killing and kidnapping of our people—especially in their farmlands—is heartbreaking and unacceptable,” the EYN leadership stated. “We urge the government to rise to its responsibility and ensure the safety of farming communities before more lives are lost.”
EYN also extended its deepest condolences to the grieving families and called for prayers and solidarity across the Christian community to support those affected by the attack.
