EYN President Calls for Total Dependence on God
The President of EYN – Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, Rev. Daniel Y. C. Mbaya, PhD has urged believers to place their complete trust in God, emphasizing that divine faithfulness remains the ultimate source of restoration and hope.
He made this call during his sermon as the Sunday preacher at Kulp Theological Seminary, Kwarhi — the only seminary of the church and the largest theological institution owned by EYN.

Warm Welcome and Recognition
Welcoming the President, the Provost of the seminary, Rev. Prof. Dauda A. Gavva, expressed gratitude for the honor of hosting him at the chapel.
He highlighted President Mbaya’s remarkable achievements, particularly his visionary leadership in advancing theological education and the ongoing Brethren University project.
In his remarks, President Mbaya commended the dedication of the seminary staff, reminding them that serving at KTS is both a privilege and a responsibility.
He encouraged them to remain steadfast, assuring that “things will be better soon by the special grace of God.”

Message to Students: Hope for the Future
Addressing the students, he emphasized their vital role in shaping the future of the church.
“Through you, I see EYN going higher. As young as you are, you develop interest in God’s work,” he said.
The Sermon: Lessons from Mephibosheth
Preaching from 2 Samuel 9:1–13 on the theme “If Someone Makes You Cripple: Lessons from Mephibosheth,” President Mbaya reflected on betrayal and life’s challenges.
He noted that those considered friends, helpers, or even family can sometimes disappoint or hurt, just as Mephibosheth experienced betrayal. However, he stressed that God’s restoration ultimately prevailed.
Encouraging worshippers, he declared:
- “Trusting God completely will restore you and never betray you.”
- “No matter your situation, God will help you fix it.”
- “God will turn your challenges around.”
He further emphasized that God’s grace is sufficient to transform any situation, urging believers to depend fully on Him.

Personal Testimony and Prophetic Prayers
President Mbaya also shared his personal testimony of divine transformation, inspiring the congregation with a living example of God’s intervention.
Before delivering his sermon, he offered fervent prayers and prophetic declarations over the KTS community, the wider EYN family, and Nigeria, praying for peace, divine intervention, and total restoration across the land.
