Kwarhi, Nigeria – During his morning address to the EYN Headquarters staff, Rev. Dr. Daniel Y.C Mbaya, the President of the EYN Church of the Brethren i Nigeria, challenged the staff to embody three essential qualities: bravery, strength, and happiness.
Rev. Dr. Mbaya emphasized that being brave means apologizing when we have wronged others, being strong means forgiving those who have wronged us, and being happy means forgetting the hurt and moving forward. He encouraged the staff to give a gift to Jesus by practicing these virtues, asking, “Can we give a gift to Jesus this week? If you know you have wronged someone, can you be brave enough to apologize, when the person comes, can you be strong enough to forgive, and Can we all be happy enough to forget?”
The EYN President clarified that apologizing is not a sign of weakness but rather a mark of bravery, while forgiving requires immense strength. He stressed that happiness can only be achieved when we choose to forgive and forget.
Rev. Dr. Mbaya also expressed concern about the church’s gradual loss of identity and heritage. He attributed this to a lack of forgiveness and pride among members, which hinders the church’s growth and unity.
The staff were inspired by the President’s message, recognizing the importance of embodying these qualities in their personal and professional lives.
