EYN President Expresses Deep Concern Over Lassa School Abduction, Calls for Immediate Rescue of Students

EYN PRESIDENT CALLS FOR THE IMMEDIATE RESCUE OF ABDUCTED GOVERNMENT DAY SCHOOL, LASSA STUDENTS

The President of theEYN- Church if the Brethren in Nigeria  Rev. Daniel Y. C. Mbaya, PhD has expressed deep sorrow over the abduction of students of Government Day School, Lassa, and has called for urgent action to secure the safe release of those still in captivity.

Although the EYN President has been outside the country since Sunday attending an official meeting, he has been closely monitoring developments and has remained in constant prayer over the unfortunate incident.

The EYN President calls on the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the Executive Governor of Borno State, His Excellency Babagana Umara Zulum, to do everything possible within the shortest possible time to rescue all the remaining abducted students and ensure their safe and unharmed return to their families.

The EYN President commended the gallantry and swift response of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with local vigilante groups, whose efforts led to the rescue of seven (7) students and one teacher. He expressed gratitude for their courage and sacrifice and urged them not to relent until every abducted child is safely reunited with their loved ones.

Describing the incident as heartbreaking and unacceptable, the EYN President emphasized that every child has the fundamental right to education in a safe and secure environment. He appealed to all security agencies to intensify ongoing operations and work tirelessly to secure the freedom of those still being held.

The EYN President also conveyed his heartfelt sympathy to the parents, guardians, and families of the affected students, acknowledging the pain, anxiety, and uncertainty they are enduring. He assured them of the prayers and unwavering support of the Church during this difficult period.

“We stand in solidarity with the affected families and fervently pray for God’s protection over the abducted students. We shall continue to make every possible effort until all our children are brought home safely and unharmed,” the EYN President said.

The EYN also calls on all Nigerians to remain united in prayer and to support all lawful efforts aimed at ensuring the safe and immediate return of the remaining abducted students.
