The President of Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria (EYN), the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, Rev. Daniel Y.C. Mbaya, PhD has extended warm Eid-Adha felicitations to H President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other leaders while calling for national unity, peace, and development.
In a goodwill message marking the Eid-Adha celebration, Rev. Dr. Mbaya congratulated His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri; and all Muslim faithful across the country.
“Eid-Mubarak! To His Excellencies the President of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Executive Governor of Adamawa State Rt. Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, and all Muslim faithfuls — Happy Eid-Adha,” the EYN President stated.
Rev. Mbaya emphasized the spiritual significance of the festival, urging Nigerians to draw inspiration from its core lessons.
“May the lessons of Sacrifice, Obedience, and Devotion inspire us to embrace unity and peace for the development of our nation and communities,” he added.
The message comes at a time when religious leaders across Nigeria are promoting harmony and resilience amid national challenges. Eid-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham’s) willingness to sacrifice in obedience to God, a theme that resonates with values of selflessness, faith, and communal solidarity.
EYN, one of Nigeria’s prominent Christian denominations with roots in the northeast, has consistently advocated for peace, especially in regions affected by conflict. Under Rev. DMbaya’s leadership, the church continues to foster interfaith understanding and national cohesion.
The EYN President’s greetings align with similar messages from national leaders, reinforcing a shared commitment to unity during this sacred period for Muslims. Celebrations of Eid-Adha involve prayers, acts of charity, and the sharing of sacrificial meals, symbolizing compassion and support for the less privileged. As Nigerians mark the festival, Rev. Mbaya’s call serves as a reminder that the virtues celebrated during Eid-Adha — sacrifice, obedience, and devotion — remain essential for building a peaceful and prosperous nation.
