EYN Sunday School Bible Quiz 2026 crowns top scorers as leaders call for greater parental support
EYN – Church of the Brethren in Nigeria held its annual EYN Sunday School Bible Quiz 2026 on Friday, July 31, 2026, with junior and senior contestants competing in a well-organised programme that featured prizes, donations and calls for increased engagement from parents and church leaders.
The event, hosted by the Director of Education, Rev. Daniel I. Yumuna and the Sunday School Unit team, is part of EYN’s ongoing efforts to strengthen biblical literacy and youth discipleship across the Church. The competition brings together pupils from multiple Churches to test scripture knowledge through quiz and recitation rounds.

The programme took place on Friday, July 31, 2026, and proceeded smoothly under the supervision of the Sunday School Unit. Participants were divided into Junior and Senior categories. Competitors delivered recitations and answered quiz questions judged by appointed officials; awards were presented to first, second and third place winners, while all other participants received equal gifts in recognition of their effort. First Position Senior category in Bible Recitation Rutty Ishaya Kwarhi Zone, First Position Junior category in Bible Recitation Miyakinani John Kwarhi Zone, First position Senior category in Bible Quiz Wapa Tatas Kwarhi Zone, First position Junior category in Bible Quiz Abigail Simon.
EYN President Rev. Daniel Y. C. Mbaya, PhD, commended all participants and urged both categories to continue studying and remain committed to Sunday School so their lives may prosper. “All participants are best; the two chosen are recognised for top scores,” he said, adding a prayer for increased attendance next year and a call for parents to support their children in God’s Word.
Hon. Ephraim Abalis (Dan Fali), chairman of the programme, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to attend and for being selected to preside. He donated ₦1,000,000 in support of the event and provided ₦100,000 in prize money distributed among winners.

• All remaining participants received equal gifts to encourage continued participation.
• Financial support from Hon. Ephraim Abalis will help underwrite next year’s programme and incentivise broader participation.
Organisers said the event strengthened congregational ties and showcased the church’s investment in youth spiritual formation. Presence of standing committee members, heads of institutions, headquarters staff, nearby DCC secretaries and parents underscored broad institutional support. Leadership emphasised the programme’s role in nurturing future church leaders and shaping community moral formation.
The Director of Education concluded by promising a more expansive and celebrated programme next year, urging winners not to be complacent and encouraging non-winners to redouble efforts for improved performance. Church leaders hope the momentum and financial support from donors will increase participation and deepen Sunday School engagement across EYN.
