EYN Vice President Graces 2026 Michika Cultural Festival. The 2026 Michika Annual Cultural Festival came alive with color, tradition, and unity as dignitaries from across Nigeria gathered to witness the grand celebration marking the ascension of His Royal Majesty and the turbaning ceremony of district heads, council members, and title holders of the Michika Chiefdom.

The event, which coincided with the one year anniversary of the chiefdom, themed “Preserving Our Heritage and Embracing Our Future,” drew an impressive audience, including traditional rulers, emirs, religious leaders, political figures, and sons and daughters of Michika from across the diaspora. Among the distinguished guests was the Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria (EYN) Vice President, Rev. Nuhu Mutah Abba, who graced the occasion alongside the EYN General Secretary, Rev. James K. Musa, the EYN KTS Provost, Rev. Prof. Dauda A. Gavva, and other members of the National Standing Committee.

The festival began with a well-organized sequence of arrivals that reflected the rich cultural protocol of the Michika people. Guests and dignitaries were seated first, followed by the arrival of district heads, then the revered title holders of the Michika Chiefdom. Council members made their entrance shortly after, leading up to the formal arrival of the Michika Chiefdom Traditional Council.

The highlight of the ceremonial procession was the grand entrance of His Royal Majesty, Mbege Ka Michika, Prof. Bulus Luka Gadiga, whose presence drew admiration and respect from the crowd. His arrival was greeted with traditional fanfare and marked the official commencement of the day’s activities.

The Nigerian National Anthem was rendered solemnly, setting a tone of unity and patriotism. Immediately afterward, a dignified procession of council members and title holders proceeded to the designated arena for the turbaning ceremony, one of the most anticipated segments of the festival.

The turbaning ceremony was conducted with great cultural significance and honor. His Royal Majesty, Prof. Bulus Luka Gadiga, was formally recognized as Mbege Ka Mweceka (President-In-Chief), reaffirming his leadership over the chiefdom. Several prominent individuals were also conferred with traditional titles in recognition of their contributions to society and the development of the Michika community.

Among those honored were Major General Bitrus Kwaji (Rtd), who received the title Saseragwe Mweceka (Star of Michika), and Major General Markus Ghinga Kangye, conferred as Mwedala Ra Mweceka (Leader of Michika). Others included Ctr. Elisha Luka Gadiga as Dlevie Mweceka (Honor of Michika), Hon. Adamu Kamale as Katsalar Mweceka (Hero of Michika), and Ambassador Ibrahim Mohammed Bashir, OFR, as Kambie Mweceka (Administrator of Michika).

Notably, Hajia Halima Buba, OON, was honored as Mbelea Mweceka (Gimbiya), while Hon. Augustina Wandemihya received the title Shenenkwea Mweceka (Shade of Michika).

Turbaning of Dr. Amos Sini Thlakuma Denama Mweceka (Strength of Michika)

Dr. Amos Sini Thlakuma was named Denema Mweceka (Strength of Michika), and Alhaji Abubakar Isa was turbaned as Kama Ra Mweceka (Sardauna).

Further recognitions included Mr. Sylvester D. Wada as Zakwerie Mweceka (Wise One of Michika), Mr. Joseph Takwale as Megela Ra Mweceka (Hero of Michika), and Hon. Paul Danbiyu Tumba as Kwahyea Mweceka (Wise Son of Michika). The Secretary of the Chiefdom Council, Mr. D.D. Kwabe, also played a key administrative role during the ceremony.

Senator Binta Masi Garba was honored as Zezerea Mweceka (Queen of Happiness), while Rt. Hon. Zakariya Nyampa received the title Dyegwe Ra Mweceka (Jarumi). Hon. Moses Yerima Zah was recognized as Dlembwerie Mweceka (Royal Sound of Michika).

Following the turbaning, each council member and title holder was formally introduced, with citations highlighting their achievements and contributions. This segment added a personal touch to the ceremony, allowing attendees to appreciate the individuals behind the titles.

The festival also featured vibrant interludes of traditional music and dance, showcasing the diverse cultural heritage of the Michika people and neighboring tribes. Colorful performances captivated the audience, reinforcing the festival’s theme of preserving cultural identity while embracing modern development.

In his remarks, the EYN Vice President, Rev. Nuhu Mutah Abba, commended the Michika Chiefdom for upholding cultural values and fostering unity among its people. He emphasized the importance of tradition in building a strong and cohesive society, urging leaders and citizens alike to continue promoting peace and development.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered on behalf of the council members, followed by a royal address from His Royal Majesty, Prof. Bulus Luka Gadiga. In his speech, the monarch expressed gratitude to all attendees and reaffirmed his commitment to the progress and unity of the Michika Chiefdom.

The ceremony ended with group photographs and official announcements, marking a successful and memorable 2026 Michika Annual Cultural Festival—an event that not only celebrated tradition but also strengthened the bonds of community and leadership for the future.
