EYN Vice President, Director of Missions Visits Cameroon to Pave Way for Church Growth in the Region

In a strategic move to strengthen cross-border ministry and secure official recognition for  EYN- Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, the EYN Vice President , Rev. Nuhu Mutah Abba, and the Director of Missions, Rev. Evang. Musa D. Mbaya, has undertaken an official mission visit to the Republic of Cameroon to pave the way for structured church growth in the region.

The visit, which commenced on 30 January 2026, focused on engaging key traditional, religious, and government authorities toward the establishment, documentation, and smooth operation of the EYN Church in the Mogode District of the Garoua Region. The mission aligns with EYN’s broader vision of orderly expansion, peacebuilding, and lawful engagement with host communities.

Rev. Abba, accompanied by members of his entourage, crossed from Nigeria into Cameroon, underscoring the church’s commitment to international fellowship and responsible missionary work. Upon arrival, the delegation spent the night at Lau, where the Vice President paid a courtesy visit to the Ardo of Lau, Ardo Umoru. The traditional ruler warmly received the delegation and commended the EYN Church for its values and contribution to spiritual and community development.

Ardo Umoru expressed strong support for the establishment of the EYN Church in his community, encouraging peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and collaboration between the church and the host community. He emphasized the role of faith-based institutions in promoting moral values, unity, and social progress.

The following day, the EYN delegation proceeded to Mogode, where Rev. Abba paid an official visit to the Surpréfet of Mogode, Engola Nyane Patrick, to seek formal consent and understanding regarding the church’s establishment. The Surpréfet received the delegation warmly and highlighted the importance of proper documentation, lawful procedures, and respect for government regulations. He assured the EYN leadership of his full support, provided all legal and administrative requirements are met—an assurance that marked a significant milestone for EYN’s presence in Cameroon.

Further strengthening the mission, Rev. Abba also visited the palace of the Lamido of Mogode, His Majesty Alhaji Abubakar Faical, who was represented by his secretary. During the visit, the EYN Vice President shared the church’s vision, mission, and core values, emphasizing its commitment to peace, spiritual growth, education, and social welfare.

In response, the Lamido’s palace expressed maximum support for the EYN vision and commended the church’s leadership for its orderly approach and respect for traditional and government authorities, encouraging continued promotion of harmony and development within communities.

The visit of the EYN Vice President and Director of Missions to Cameroon stands as a landmark step in advancing the church’s mission beyond Nigeria. It reflects EYN’s dedication to structured growth, inter-community cooperation, and international ministry, while laying a solid foundation for the successful establishment and documentation of the EYN Church in the region.
