In a bold move to combat gender-based violence (GBV), the EYN Women Ministry hosted a seminar for youth aged 18-35 at DCC Guyaku in Gombi Local Government Area, Adamawa State, on February 26, 2025. The seminar aimed to provide support services to GBV survivors and promote community-led initiatives to prevent violence against women and girls is part of many programs sponsored by Mission 21.
According to the Women Ministry Director, Mrs. Hassana Habu, GBV is a “gross violation of human rights” that must be eradicated. She emphasized the collective responsibility to ensure homes and communities are safe and free from violence.
The seminar featured various teachings, including:
– Cultural Barriers: Understanding and addressing cultural obstacles that perpetuate GBV
– Modesty in Christian Life: Exploring the role of modesty in preventing GBV
– Protecting One’s Virginity: Strategies for maintaining physical and emotional integrity
– Choosing a Life Partner: Guidance on selecting a partner who respects and values women’s rights
– Entrepreneurship Practical: Empowering participants with income-generating skills

Each participant received two liters of Morning Fresh, one bottle of Vaseline, and ₦10,000 for transport, in addition to theoretical and practical knowledge to engage in income-generating activities and improve their livelihoods.
Rev. Peter Vandi, DCC Secretary Guyaku and Rev. Dauda Mutah, Residence Pastor EYN LCC Guyaku 1 appreciated the department for their effort in organizing the seminar, they added that the seminar has help in creating awareness to youth.
Among the Participants, Miss. Florence Sunday expressed that “the seminar was informative, engaging and empowering, we appreciate the passion and dedication of Women Ministry Staff in addressing this critical issue”.

Mr. Joshua Yakubu appreciated the department. “Thank you for creating a safe space for us to learn about GBV, your work will make a positive impact in our community, may God bless and strengthen your Ministry as you continue serving other communities”
Other Women Ministry staff who facilitated the seminar include Mrs. Indagiju Ijadi, Miss. Nuwa Patrick, Mrs. Rhda Nuhu, and Mrs. Mary Adati who all took sessions.
