EYN ZME 63rd Convention Calls Women to Seek the Ancient Path
The EYN – Church of the Brethren in Nigeria Women Fellowship (Zumuntan Mata Ekklesiya – ZME) has held its 63rd Convention from March 11–14, 2026, urging members to return to biblical principles under the theme “Seek the Ancient Path” (Jeremiah 6:16).
The EYN ZME 63rd Convention brought together The ZME Leader (Uwar Zumunta), the pastors wife and the Treasurer or Secretary from all Districts and Local Councils/Branch of the churches for spiritual reflection, fellowship, and renewed commitment to Christian values.

Rev. Mbaya Speaks on Spiritual Growth and National Responsibility
In his address after the convention was declared open by the Vice President of the church, the President of EYN – Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, Rev. Daniel Y. C. Mbaya, PhD, reminded participants of the historical significance of the women’s fellowship.
He noted that by next year’s Majalisa, the Women Fellowship will be 100 years in existence younger than EYN by four years (104), highlighting the long-standing impact of the ministry in the church.

Rev. Mbaya observed that the church is growing numerically, spiritual development is also growing to surpass the rapid development of structures in the church, despite rigorous efforts by the leadership to make sufficient for the gatherings at national level.
“Our growth has surpassed our development. However we are happy about that because it is better for us to grow as Christians spiritually than merely expand church buildings,” he said.
Christians Encouraged to Participate in Politics
Speaking on civic responsibility, the EYN President encouraged members to actively participate in politics.
According to him, although EYN as a church does not belong to any political party, members should register with political parties of their choice because voting begins from the primaries.
He urged Christians to become delegates and actively participate in leadership processes.
“If politics is described as a dirty game, Christians who are the light and salt of the earth should go there and cleanse it,” he stated.
Rev. Mbaya added that greater participation would enable Christians to occupy key leadership positions such as senators and other influential offices, he however cautioned pastors not to actively declare or register with a particular party as is against the policy of the church.
Strengthening Relationships and Family Values
The EYN President also appreciated the ZME Director for promoting better understanding between pastors’ wives and ZME officials, urging both groups to carry out their responsibilities faithfully without interfering with each other’s roles.
He further called on parents to honor their responsibilities at home so that families can become peaceful and godly environments.
Rev. Mbaya also warned participants about the danger of careless speech.
“The damage caused by our tongues can overwhelm the power in our songs. Therefore, we must be careful with our words, especially on this holy ground,” he cautioned.
He concluded by praying for God’s blessings, grace, mercy, divine healing, and protection upon the women attending the convention.

Mrs. Rhoda Nuhu Encourages Unity and Compassion
Also speaking during the EYN ZME 63rd Convention, the Wife of the Vice President of EYN and Adviser II of ZME, Mrs. Rhoda Nuhu, said the gathering was an opportunity for women to share love, listen to the Word of God, and offer songs of praise.

She sympathized with members who had lost their loved ones and those living in volatile areas, encouraging them with the message of hope from Psalm 46:1–2, which reminds believers that God is a refuge and strength in times of trouble.
Guest Teacher Calls for Return to Biblical Foundations
Delivering the convention message, Rev. Andrawus Yakubu, DCC Secretary of Kala’a, described the theme “Seek the Ancient Path” as a call for believers to examine their lives and return to God’s original standards.
He warned that many Christians today are mimicking worldly practices instead of maintaining the values that once defined the church.

According to him, the ancient path refers to the way believers embraced when they first accepted Christ and were baptized.
Rev. Yakubu explained that the ancient path represents:
-
The way of holiness
-
The way of obedience
-
The path of faith
-
The path of truth
He also identified signs that indicate believers may have departed from the ancient path, including:
-
Compromising God’s standards
-
Neglecting prayer and the Word of God
-
Seeking human wisdom above God’s wisdom
-
Encouraging sinful lifestyles
He urged participants to return to God through genuine repentance and renewed commitment to His Word.

The EYN ZME 63rd Convention, held from March 11–14, continues to serve as an important platform for spiritual renewal and empowerment of women within the church.
