The National Standing Committee (NSC), led by the EYN President, Rev. Daniel Y. C. Mbaya, visited the grieving community today Tuesday 28, April, 2026 following the attack on Sunday, to assess the situation and stand in solidarity with affected families. The victims, many of whom were members of EYN LCC Guyaku 1, were reportedly attacked by insurgents during evening hours, with some returning for church service when they were killed. Properties were destroyed in the attack, including motorcycles, bicycles, and the EYN church building in the community.
A Pattern of Targeted Attacks on EYN Communities
The EYN NSC Visit Guyaku comes amid a disturbing wave of repeated attacks on EYN members across the region.
Barely a week before the Guyaku massacre, 15 out of the 20 killed in coordinated attacks in Wuro Ladde and Pubagu are members of EYN, where a church auditorium belonging to the church was also burnt.
With the latest attack in Guyakuwhere the majority of those killed are again EYN members and their place of worship destroyed the pattern has become increasingly alarming, pointing to a sustained and disproportionate impact on the church.
EYN NSC Visit Guyaku: President Meets Security, Calls for Strategy Shift

During the visit the President held a critical meeting with security personnel deployed to the area. While acknowledging their sacrifices, he made it clear that the current approach is no longer sufficient.
He stated that the fight against insurgency must move beyond reactive measures.
“It has gone beyond waiting for attackers to strike before responding. The time has come to take the war to their hideouts,” he said.
The statement reflects growing frustration within EYN communities, who continue to suffer repeated attacks with little preventive protection.
EYN NSC Visit Guyaku: Warning to Traditional Rulers

As part of the EYN NSC Visit, the President issued a strong warning to traditional rulers at all levels, urging them to reject individuals who bring divisive or extremist teachings into their communities.
He emphasized the importance of preserving the long-standing culture of peaceful coexistence between religions.
“Do not accept visitors who introduce false teachings. Our strength has always been in unity and peaceful living,” he cautioned.
EYN NSC Visit Guyaku: Communities Told to Expose Informants
The EYN NSC Visit Guyaku also carried a direct message to community leaders and residents across all religious lines.
The President urged communities to take responsibility by identifying and exposing individuals who act as informants or contribute to insecurity.
“Flush out anyone aiding this violence and hand them over to the police,” he charged.
EYN NSC Visit Guyaku: Message to Christians Amid Targeted Killings
Addressing grieving Christians, especially members of EYN LCC Guyaku 1, the President encouraged them to remain steadfast in faith despite the painful losses.
He acknowledged that the pattern of attacks appears to disproportionately affect Christians—particularly EYN members—but urged believers not to lose hope.
“Do not allow this to weaken your faith in Christ. Depend on God even in times of sorrow,” he said.
EYN NSC Visit Guyaku Highlights Ongoing Suffering of EYN Members
The EYN NSC Visit Guyaku once again highlights a troubling reality—the repeated loss of lives among EYN members in northeastern Nigeria.
From Wuro Ladde to Pubagu and now Guyaku, the church continues to record devastating losses, including the killing of its members and the destruction of its worship centers.
With 29 Christians killed in this latest attack—mostly EYN members—the incident reinforces fears that EYN communities remain highly vulnerable in the face of persistent insurgent violence.
A Call That Must Not Be Ignored
The visit is more than a condolence mission—it is a strong national call to action.
As killings persist and communities continue to mourn, the demand is clear: proactive security, accountability, and a decisive shift from reactive defense to offensive action against insurgents.
For EYN members and affected communities, the message is urgent—the killings must stop, and the time to act is now.
