 Ghwadza Attains Full LCC Autonomy

The atmosphere was filled with jubilation as worshippers, elders, and leaders gathered eagerly to witness the elevation of LCB Ghwadza to a fully recognized Local Church Council (LCC). The celebration had in attendance the EYN Vice President, Rev. Nuhu M. Abba, alongside a team of Directors and Officials who came to officially conduct and bless the ceremony.

Members of EYN Local Church Branch (LCB) Ghwadza—under Himikeless District Church Council (DCC) Futu, burst into tears of joy while witnessing the long-awaited granting of their LCC autonomy.

The historic milestone, which marks a major spiritual achievement for the 61-year-old congregation, was celebrated with singing, deep worship, and heartfelt gratitude to God.

A Celebration Years in the Making

The autonomy program commenced promptly at 10:00 am with vibrant songs and choruses that echoed across the community. The congregation sang with passion—some with tears rolling down their cheeks—as they reflected on the long journey of growth, challenges, perseverance, and faith that brought the church to this point.

Rev. Daniel I. Yumuna preaching at the event

The highlight of the early session was a powerful sermon delivered by Rev. Daniel I. Yumuna, who preached on the theme: “Progress and Blessing When Living in Unity.”
Drawing from the scriptures, Rev. Yumuna reminded the congregation that unity is a divine tool for progress in the Christian race. He emphasized the blessings attached to faithfulness, togetherness, and communion among believers. According to him, when Christians live and walk in unity, the gospel naturally spreads throughout communities and beyond.

He encouraged the newly recognized LCC to maintain a spirit of brotherhood, stressing that unity keeps the church strong and enables it to fulfill its mission in Christ. “When Christians commune with one another in love, the gospel of Christ will occupy the whole community and eventually the world at large,” he said.

A Journey Rooted in History

As part of the ceremony, a brief history of the church was presented.
LCB Ghadza began as a mission field in 1954, founded by the late Mr. Yusufu Kwada, with just 25 worshippers in humble fellowship. Over the decades, the church grew steadily through missionary zeal, community engagement, and unwavering faith. Achieving LCC autonomy after 61 years is therefore not only a milestone but also a testament to God’s faithfulness and the resilience of His people in Ghwadza.

In his official speech, the EYN Vice President, Rev. Nuhu M. Abba, congratulated the church for reaching a new level of responsibility and spiritual maturity. He reminded the congregation that autonomy comes with greater expectations, urging them to uphold righteousness, truth, and commitment to sound doctrine.

With a heavy heart, he also addressed the troubling state of the nation, particularly the rising threats against Christian communities. He issued a passionate call to action, saying:

“We must not keep quiet about the Christian genocide in Nigeria until our voice is heard and positive solutions are put in place to end this menace.”

He encouraged the new LCC leadership and members to continue standing firm in faith, praying for peace, and speaking against injustice while trusting God for deliverance.

Autonomy Granted with Joy and Thanksgiving

At the climax of the event, the long-awaited autonomy was officially granted. The declaration was met with thunderous applause, tears of joy, and songs of praise. Elders embraced one another, youth jubilated, and women lifted their voices in thanksgiving as the moment many had prayed for finally arrived.

The celebration continued with formal presentations of gifts and donations to the newly established LCC Ghwadza, symbolizing support, unity, and encouragement for the church’s new beginning. Members expressed hope that the autonomy would usher in greater spiritual growth, development, and evangelism within the community.

As the program drew to a close, the sense of accomplishment, gratitude, and renewed commitment was evident among everyone present. The day marked not just a church upgrade, but a spiritual victory for the entire Ghwadza community.
