Church Autonomy Service Brings Joy to EYN DCC Shaffa as LCB Bilazuwi Attains LCC Status
SHAFFA, BORNO STATE – July 5, 2026 – A remarkable milestone was recorded in the life of the Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria (EYN) as EYN DCC Shaffa officially elevated LCB Bilazuwi to the status of Local Church Council (LCC) during a colorful church autonomy service held at Bilazuwi, LCC Gwalam, Hawul Local Government Area of Borno State.
The historic autonomy service was officiated by the EYN Vice President, Rev. Nuhu Mutah Abba, who represented the leadership of the church at the well-attended occasion. The event attracted church leaders, government officials, traditional rulers, politicians, pastors, and Christian faithful from various DCCs and LCCs who gathered to witness the memorable celebration.
Rev. Nuhu Mutah Abba arrived at the venue with his entourage before the commencement of the programme. On arrival, he received a warm reception from DCC Secretaries, pastors, politicians, village heads, and other high-profile government officials who came from far and near to honour the occasion.
The programme began with an opening prayer led by Mrs. Hassana Habu, who thanked God for granting journey mercies to all participants and for making the long-awaited autonomy service a reality. Following the prayer, the DCC Secretary formally introduced the dignitaries in attendance.
The celebration was further enriched with inspiring musical presentations by various church groups and choirs, whose songs focused on thanksgiving and the growth of the newly established church. Their performances created an atmosphere of joy, gratitude, and praise throughout the gathering.
The spiritual highlight of the service was a powerful sermon delivered by the EYN Administrative Secretary, Rev. Timta Luka Musa. Preaching on the theme, “Remaining Faithful to Christ and His Mission,” with the biblical text from Colossians 2:6–7, Rev. Musa emphasized the importance of remaining rooted in Christ while actively embracing evangelism as the foundation of Christian living.
He challenged believers to remain steadfast in their faith despite the changing circumstances of the world, reminding the congregation that the Church exists primarily to proclaim the Gospel and make disciples. He encouraged Christians to remain faithful to God’s calling and continue expanding His kingdom through dedicated evangelism and Christ-like living.
Following the sermon, Rev. Nuhu Mutah Abba proceeded with the official autonomy ceremony. Before conducting the formal proceedings, he recognized the presence of distinguished guests and conveyed warm greetings from the EYN President to the congregation.
In his address, the Vice President encouraged members of the newly established LCC to remain united and committed to peaceful coexistence.
“Peace and unity bring success, and success brings development to the community and the world at large,” he said.
A brief history of LCB Bilazuwi was thereafter presented to the congregation. According to the historical account, the church was established on January 4, 1998, through the efforts of Mallam Batancha Dantoro Wakawa, a native of Bilazuwi, during the leadership of Mallam Daniel Gashuwa Bumba, who then served as the leader of LCC Gwalam.
The church faithfully served as a Local Church Branch for twenty-eight years before attaining the status of a Local Church Council. This significant achievement was realized under the leadership of Pastor Ezekiel Miti Wakawa, whose dedication and commitment greatly contributed to the growth and development of the congregation.
After the history was read, Rev. Nuhu Mutah Abba invited all communicant members of the church to come forward for the oath-taking ceremony. Upon successfully taking the oath and confirming that the congregation had met all the constitutional requirements for autonomy, the EYN Vice President officially declared LCB Bilazuwi an autonomous Local Church Council.
The declaration was immediately greeted with loud applause, joyful celebrations, songs of thanksgiving, and expressions of gratitude from the congregation. Members, friends, and well-wishers presented various gifts to the newly established LCC in appreciation of God’s faithfulness and in support of the church’s new chapter.
In his closing remarks, the Chairman of EYN DCC Shaffa expressed profound appreciation to the EYN leadership, invited guests, government officials, traditional rulers, pastors, and all participants for contributing to the success of the autonomy service. He prayed that the newly established LCC would continue to grow spiritually and numerically while remaining faithful to the mission of Christ.
The memorable occasion concluded with the closing prayer and benediction pronounced by the EYN Vice President, bringing to a close a joyful and historic celebration that will remain a significant landmark in the history of EYN DCC Shaffa and the newly established LCC Bilazuwi.
