Chibok, Borno – Two sisters, Esther and Aishatu Habila Gali, who were kidnapped on May 20, 2024, from LCC Kwada Hirpaya, DCC Chibok, Chibok Local Government Area, Borno State, have been released after their father paid a ransom.
According to the District Secretary Chibok, Rev. Joel Y. Tabji, the kidnappers demanded a substantial sum of money in exchange for the sisters’ safe return. The father, desperate to secure his daughters’ freedom, sold nine bulls and several bags of maize to raise the funds.
The sisters were finally released on 26 May, 2024 after the ransom was paid. They were reunited with their family and are reportedly in good health.
The kidnapping highlights the ongoing security concerns in the region, where criminal activity and abductions are becoming increasingly common.
It can be recalled that on 2nd May, 2024 a boy was shot at Takulashe, DCC Chibok-Balgi, Chibok Local Government Area, Borno State.
The family has not issued any comment on the incident, but friends and relatives have expressed relief and gratitude for the sisters’ safe return.
