30 Pannel Solar kits installed in KTS, More Development in the Pipeline says Provost
Kwarhi, 15 May, 2025- In a moment of celebration and renewed hope, the EYN President, Rev. Daniel Y.C. Mbaya, PhD, alongside the EYN National Standing Committee, officially commissioned a state-of-the-art Solar Power System at Kulp Theological Seminary (KTS), Kwarhi. This milestone event signals a significant leap in the seminary’s drive toward sustainable development and academic excellence.

During the commissioning ceremony, Rev. Mbaya expressed deep joy over the project, describing it as a beacon of light—both literally and symbolically. Citing Genesis 1:1-3, he emphasized the critical role of light in creation and in learning. “Learning cannot thrive in darkness,” he stated. “This solar power system is a powerful step toward creating an enabling environment for our students and staff.”
The President praised the initiative and pledged continued support for the growth and transformation of KTS. He commended the dedication of the KTS staff and encouraged students to remain committed to their academic pursuits.

Welcoming the President and his team, the Provost of KTS, Rev. Prof. Dauda A. Gava, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the support of the EYN Headquarters. He shared his excitement over the successful commissioning, noting that constant power supply is essential for meaningful academic engagement. He also extended gratitude to Mason Technical College for their expertise in executing the installation.
Since assuming office in January this year, Prof. Gava has led a wave of transformative developments at KTS. Under his leadership, the seminary has witnessed remarkable infrastructure and academic upgrades, including:
- Installation of solar power to ensure uninterrupted electricity
- Procurement of additional classroom furniture for the Postgraduate block
- Development of new curricula for the Master’s program
- Updates to the undergraduate curriculum
- Plans to renovate and solarize staff quarters
- Installation of smartboards for interactive learning
These efforts reflect the Provost’s strong commitment to repositioning KTS as a center of theological and academic excellence. Charting the Future, Prof. Gava also outlined pressing challenges and bold future plans aimed at sustaining the momentum of growth. These include:
- Renovation and modernization of staff quarters
- Phasing out of outdated student hostels
- Enhancing the water supply system
- Construction of a new administrative block and multipurpose lecture hall

The atmosphere at KTS was one of excitement, pride, and renewed optimism as the seminary community gathered to witness what many called a historic milestone. Both the EYN President and the Provost reaffirmed their shared vision for a vibrant, progressive KTS, driven by innovation, commitment, and God’s guidance.
