Late Mama Maryamu was laid to rest at Leho, surrounded by loved ones. She passed away after a brief illness at the age of 72.

During her funeral service at EYN Askira No. 1, the EYN President, Rev. Daniel Y. C Mbaya, PhD, brought words of comfort to the community and people of Askira, emphasizing that every human life is valued, regardless of age.

He encouraged the family to find solace in the word of God, reminding them that Jesus Christ is the resurrection, and Mama Maryamu is alive in Christ.

Rev. Mbaya also urged all Christians to pray for Nigeria, standing in solidarity and faith. He encouraged pastors and members to be security-conscious and reiterated the leadership’s message to be wise and prudent, especially when it comes to managing farm produce in these uncertain times.

Rev. Joshua Wakai also offered words of comfort to the family, encouraging them to emulate Mama Maryamu’s good character. He reminded them to love, encourage, and advise one another during this difficult time.
In his sermon, Rev. John Wada Zambua drew inspiration from Philippians 1:20-21. He likened death to a school, where every student must eventually graduate. Similarly, he noted that death is an inevitable part of life, and whoever is born will one day pass away.
However, Rev. Zambua offered a message of hope, reminding the congregation that for those who believe in Jesus Christ, life does not end on earth. Rather, there is an eternal life that awaits, a promise of everlasting life through faith in Christ.
Rev. Iliya Ibrahim, son of the deceased saying his tribute.
Mama Maryamu is survived by her loving husband retired Rev. Ibrahim Bulum Nkeki, 9 children and 24 grandchildren.
