Victoria Abau buried in Wamdeo, Borno State – August 9, 2025
The Church of the Brethren in Nigeria (EYN) family came together to bid farewell to Late Mrs. Victoria Abau, who was laid to rest on Saturday, August 9, 2025, in her hometown of Wamdeo, Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.
A Life of Faith and Service
Born on September 30, 1975, in Husara, Askira Uba LGA, Victoria was the beloved daughter of Ali Apana Bilaykir and Mama Kuvu. She married Rev. Abau on April 17, 2001, and their union was blessed with four children — Millicent, Mathias, Minerva, and Magdiel.
Mrs. Abau’s life was marked by unwavering faith, devotion to her family, and selfless service to others.

Sudden Passing During National Sisters Fellowship Convention
Her passing came as a shock to many. While actively participating in the 10th National EYN Sisters Fellowship Convention in Yola, Adamawa State, she suffered a sudden chest pain and was called home to be with the Lord. Her unexpected departure left the EYN fellowship in deep mourning.

A Service of Comfort and Tribute
The funeral service at EYN LCC No. 1 Wamdeo brought together family members, friends, pastors, and representatives from various District Church Councils. Scripture readings, prayers, and hymns of hope were offered in her memory.
A cross section of the EYN Sisters Fellowship sang solemn songs, recalling her dedication to the fellowship and her commitment to the work of God.

President’s Words of Comfort
EYN President, Rev. Daniel Y.C. Mbaya, PhD, who was at the funeral service with his wife Mrs. Abigail, Vice President Nuhu Mutah Abba, and his wife Rhoda, Rev, Am. Timta L. Musa, other standing committee members and pastors with their wives across EYN shared heartfelt words of encouragement:
“Words feel so small in the face of such a profound loss, but please know that as a Church our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Your wife was a woman of grace, strength, and unwavering faith. Her warmth touched many, and her legacy will continue to live on in the lives she impacted.
May the comfort of the Holy Spirit surround you, and may you find peace in the promise of eternal life. Though the pain is heavy now, may you be uplifted by the love of those around you and the assurance that she rests in the arms of the Lord. We mourn with you, but we also celebrate the beautiful life she lived.”
At the graveside, family, church leaders, and mourners gathered in solemn reflection as the final rites were performed.

Mrs. Victoria Abau will be remembered for her compassion, integrity, and steadfast belief in God’s promises. Her life touched many, and her influence will continue to inspire.
