In a remarkable display of Christian love, unity, and organizational growth, the Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria (EYN) on Sunday, July 20, 2025, celebrated the autonomy of District Church Council (DCC) Uvu—the first DCC to gain autonomy in 2025—alongside Local Church Branch (LCB) Mutsilkum, during a spirit-filled service held at EYN Uvu No.1 in Askira Uba, Borno State.
The event brought together thousands of believers, church leaders, and guests from across the region, marking a major step in EYN’s expansion efforts in the North-East.

A Word from the Acting EYN President
The service was presided over by Rev. James K. Musa, EYN General Secretary and Acting President, standing in for Rev. Dr. Daniel Y.C. Mbaya, PhD, who is currently on official assignment outside the country.

Drawing from Philippians 2:14–16, Rev. Musa reminded the church of its divine calling to reflect Christ in unity, obedience, and mission. He praised the growth of DCC Uvu—the first DCC to be granted autonomy in 2025—as a testament to God’s faithfulness and the dedication of the people.
“The EYN President is with us in spirit and sends his deep appreciation. Your growth is a sign that the Church is alive and progressing,” he said.
He restated the church’s vision:
“A united living Church, deeply rooted in the Word of God; spiritually, numerically, and materially prosperous.”
He encouraged members to embrace the Church’s ongoing projects, including:
- The proposed Brethren University
- Brethren Radio and Television
- A Mega Youth Convention
- International Evangelism programs
He also emphasized the importance of following due process, respecting church leadership, and engaging in politics as light-bearers to change the national narrative.
DCC ZME Uba Weans DCC Uvu with Generosity and Love

DCC Uvu was charted from DCC ZME Uba, with its official autonomy process beginning in 2023. As a gesture of support and Christian brotherhood, DCC ZME Uba weaned the newly independent DCC with a heartwarming show of generosity:
- ₦950,000 cash support
- Two plots of land
- Kitchen utensils worth over ₦500,000
The symbolic gifts reflect the strength of unity within the EYN family and the value of inter-DCC support for mission advancement.
Sermon Highlight: “Jesus Our Pattern” – The Heartbeat of Christian Identity
The sermon, delivered by Rev. Amb. Timta L. Musa, EYN Administrative Secretary, focused on “Jesus Our Pattern,” based on John 13:34–35.
Rev. Musa emphasized that love is not just a suggestion but a commandment and an identity marker for all believers.
“Jesus is not only the one who commands us to love—He is the pattern and the power to love. If we say we follow Him, we must love like Him,” he declared.

He challenged the church to reject pride, division, and selfishness, and instead embrace humility, kindness, forgiveness, and compassion, especially toward the marginalized and neglected.
“Let your Christianity show in action—not just words,” he said. “Where there is no love, there is no Christ.”
Mutsilkum Also Gains Autonomy
In another milestone, LCB Mutsilkum, formerly under Uvu No.1, was also granted autonomy. Its first service was held on January 1, 2023, with Rev. Musa Talake as the pioneer pastor, under the leadership of Rev. Irmiya T. Kyagya who was the Resident Pastor of LCC Uvu No. 1..
This dual autonomy is a clear sign of spiritual and structural growth in the region, aligning with EYN’s wider vision.

A Day of Love, Legacy, and New Beginnings
The service ended with thanksgiving, cultural dances, and prayers of commissioning, sealing the occasion with joy and renewed commitment.
“We thank God for bringing us this far,” said Rev. Jau. “This is not the end—it’s a new beginning filled with possibilities.”
With DCC Uvu now standing as the first autonomous DCC in 2025, and Mutsilkum joining the ranks of self-governing church bodies, the day underscored a powerful truth: where love leads, growth follows.
