Minawao Camp in Cameroon Shines at 22nd National KB Convention in Kwarhi
Members of Refugee Camp DCC Minawao emerged as one of the biggest success stories at the 22nd National Convention of EYN Gospel Team, known in hausa as Kungiyan Bishara (KB), after winning the Bible Quiz competition during the four-day spiritual gathering held at the EYN Headquarters, Kwarhi.
The convention, which took place from May 7 to 10, 2026, drew participants from different District Church Councils (DCCs) across Nigeria and neighboring regions under the theme, “On This Rock I Will Build My Church,” based on Matthew 16:18.
For many participants, the victory recorded by the refugee camp fellowship became the emotional centerpiece of the convention, symbolizing resilience, faith, and spiritual determination despite years of hardship faced by displaced believers living in Minawao refugee camp in Cameroon.
The Bible Quiz competition attracted intense participation from several DCCs, but DCC Minawao distinguished itself with an impressive display of biblical knowledge and teamwork to secure first position. DCC Yola came second, while DCC Lokuwa finished in third place.
The announcement of the result triggered loud celebrations inside the convention arena, with delegates applauding the refugee fellowship for what many described as a remarkable testimony of perseverance and commitment to the Word of God.
The annual convention brought together evangelists, singers, youth, church leaders, and worshippers in an atmosphere filled with praise, prayer, Bible teaching, and fellowship. Participants arrived in colorful uniforms, singing songs of worship and creating a vibrant spiritual atmosphere across the EYN Headquarters.
One of the major highlights of the gathering was the visit of the EYN Vice President, Rev. Nuhu Mutah Abba, who oversees all church subgroups within EYN.
He was received by the National Chairman of KB, Pastor Bitrus Mamuda Zira, alongside enthusiastic members who welcomed the delegation with songs and cheers.
Speaking during the convention, Rev. Abba conveyed greetings from the EYN National leadership and commended participants for travelling from different locations to attend the spiritual gathering.
He also praised the KB leadership for sustaining evangelism and music ministry within the church.
“This place is your home; feel free to enjoy your programs, but do not allow the freedom to cause you to do things that will dishonor God and your Maker,” he told participants.
The Vice President urged members to remain disciplined and committed to Christian values, stressing that evangelists and gospel singers must serve as examples both within and outside the church community.
During the convention, Rev. Abba dedicated the KB 2027 Bible Study Materials, praying that the publication would strengthen the spiritual lives of members nationwide.
Awards were also presented to individuals recognized for their dedication and contributions toward the growth of the fellowship.
The guest preacher, Rev. Dr. Gonjing Churwona, delivered sermons centred on the importance of building faith upon Jesus Christ as the solid foundation of the Church.
In another session, Rev. Dr. Ishaku Dawa taught participants on Christian service, evangelism, and spiritual growth, with many attendees describing the teachings as impactful and transformative.
Bible study discussions and group reflections formed a key part of the convention, encouraging interaction and unity among members from various DCCs.
Cultural performances also added color to the gathering as DCC Bikama entertained participants with traditional dances reflecting cultural diversity and Christian joy.
The convention further featured song presentations and offering competitions among participating DCCs.
At the end of the freewill donation competition, DCC Nasarawa emerged in first position, followed by DCC Maisandari in second place, while DCC Jos secured third position.
Similarly, in the offering competition segment, DCC Nasarawa finished first, DCC Jos came second, and DCC Viniklang secured third place.
As the convention came to a close, participants offered prayers of thanksgiving and departed Kwarhi spiritually refreshed and inspired to continue serving God faithfully in their various communities.
