Rev. Prof. Dauda A. Gavva Provost Kulp Theological Seminary

Rev. Prof. Dauda A. Gavva, the new Kulp Theological Seminary Provost, who previously served as Provost of West African Theological Seminary (WATS), Lagos and also also serve as Provost of KTS from 2014 to 2022. Has been transferred back to KTS to resume his duties as Provost.

In an interview with the EYN News, Prof. Gavva expressed his enthusiasm for returning to KTS, stating, “My coming to KTS to serve as Provost again is God’s plan for me.” He also outlined his vision for the seminary, which includes, introducing a master’s program, Constructing a PGD hostel, Rebuilding the KTS married quarters, Registering the seminary with the Association of Christian Theological Education in Africa (ACTEA), Improving power supply, enhancing staff welfare, Landscaping the seminary, establishing an e-library, upgrading network facilities, publishing a school journal, Ensuring adequate water supply.

While commending commended the EYN leadership for their support towards the development of the seminary, he appealed to the EYN leadership to continue providing moral and financial support to enable KTS to become a premier institution for theological education.

Furthermore, Professor Gavva suggested that ordained ministers serving as lecturers at KTS should be attached to nearby churches as associate pastors to enhance their ministerial calling. He also recommended that the transfer of lecturers should be differentiated from that of LCC pastors, who are typically transferred after five years.

Finally, Professor Gavva called on the EYN leadership to grant KTS semi-autonomy, which would enable the school management to assess and appoint lecturers independently.

During his previous tenure as Provost of KTS, Professor Gavva achieved numerous milestones, including:

Securing affiliation with the University of Jos, Acquiring certification for recognition with the Adamawa State Ministry of Tertiary and Professional Education, Constructing the PDG Block, Building a new singles hostel, establishing a Wi-Fi network, Roofing the library etc.
