11th- 13 June, 2026 EYN National Choir Holds Impactful Music Workshop at Kwarhi, Adamawa.
The National Choir, EYN Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, has successfully organized a rich and impactful Music Workshop aimed at enhancing the quality of choir ministry across the church. The workshop, which took place at the EYN Headquarters in Kwarhi, brought together choristers from various District Church Councils (DCCs), Local Church Councils (LCCs), and Local Church Branches (LCBs) across the EYN denomination.
The two-day workshop was designed to strengthen participants not only in musical knowledge and skills but also in spiritual growth, moral conduct, and Christian service. The program reflected the commitment of the National Choir leadership to raise a generation of choristers who will effectively minister through music while living exemplary Christian lives.
Participants began arriving on Thursday from different parts of the country and were warmly received by the organizers. Before the commencement of the classes, the EYN Vice President, Rev. Nuhu Mutah Abba, accompanied by members of his entourage, paid a special visit to welcome the participants to Kwarhi.
Addressing the gathering during the opening ceremony, Rev. Abba expressed joy over the large turnout and commended the National Choir leadership for initiating a program that would contribute significantly to the growth of church music ministry within EYN.
He encouraged the participants to make the best use of the opportunity by paying close attention to all lessons and applying the knowledge, skills, and abilities they would acquire during the workshop.
“I urge you to make good use of everything that will be imparted to you during this workshop. The knowledge and skills you gain here should not end here but should be put into practice in your various churches for the glory of God,” he said.
The Vice President also challenged the participants to maintain high moral standards and remain steadfast in their Christian faith. He reminded them that as young people and future leaders, they must resist negative influences and avoid all forms of evil.
“As youths and leaders of tomorrow, the devil wants to use you just as the Lord needs you. Therefore, shun all forms of evil, especially now that elections are around the corner. Remain good ambassadors of Christ and uphold the values of the church wherever you find yourselves,” Rev. Abba admonished.
Following his remarks, he officially declared the Music Workshop open and prayed for a successful and fruitful program.
The workshop featured eight carefully selected courses designed to address different aspects of church music ministry. The courses included Choir Rehearsal Techniques, Voice and Basics of Choral Singing, Tonic-Solfa Notation, Staff Notation for Beginners, Staff Notation for Advanced Class, Keyboard Playing, Choral Song Composition, and Music Conducting.
Each course was facilitated by experienced instructors and music professionals who delivered comprehensive lectures, practical demonstrations, and interactive sessions. Participants had the opportunity to engage directly with facilitators, ask questions, and practice the skills being taught.
The sessions on voice training and choral singing focused on proper vocal production, breathing techniques, harmony, and effective choir presentation. Classes on tonic-solfa and staff notation equipped participants with the ability to read and interpret musical scores, while the keyboard course provided practical instruction on instrumental accompaniment.
Similarly, the courses on song composition and music conducting offered participants valuable insights into composing meaningful choral pieces and effectively leading choirs during worship services and special occasions.
Many participants expressed appreciation to the National Choir leadership for organizing the workshop, describing it as timely, enlightening, and spiritually enriching. They noted that the training had broadened their understanding of music ministry and strengthened their commitment to serving God through music.
The workshop concluded successfully after two days of intensive learning and fellowship. Participants departed on Saturday morning, carrying with them renewed passion, enhanced musical competence, and a deeper understanding of their responsibilities as members of the Body of Christ.
The EYN National Choir leadership expressed gratitude to God for the success of the program and reaffirmed its commitment to organizing similar capacity-building initiatives aimed at strengthening church music ministry throughout the EYN family.
