Exactly one year after, the Nehemiah Development Initiative presented over 1,000 oil palm seeds to the EYN Headquarters, the impact of the project is now becoming visible. Out of the seeds donated, 738 seedlings have successfully germinated into young trees, ready for transplanting.

Ambassador Charles Tiuda, who led the follow-up visit on August 18, 2025, expressed his joy over the impressive progress. He commended the EYN Agriculture Department, headed by Mr. Timothy Mohammed under the supervision of ICBDP Director, Mr. Yakubu Peter, for their diligent care of the seedlings.

Speaking during the visit, Ambassador Tiuda emphasized the economic importance of the palm oil tree, describing it as a “money-making tree” that, if properly nurtured, has the potential to alleviate poverty and create sustainable sources of income for many EYN members. He further noted that the growth of palm oil production will also strengthen the church’s overall financial base.

The Ambassador also called on the leadership of EYN to use upcoming conferences as a platform to sensitize members on the importance of purchasing and nurturing oil palm trees, stressing that collective participation will multiply the impact of the initiative across the denomination.

In his response, the President of EYN, Rev. Daniel Y.C. Mbaya, PhD, deeply appreciated the Nehemiah Initiative’s commitment in following up on their initial donation. He assured Ambassador Tiuda and his team that the church will not allow their effort to go to waste, pledging that EYN will do it’s very best to utilize the opportunity granted by the NGO for the benefit of its members and the wider church community.

The Nehemiah Development Initiative, a Jimeta-based NGO, had earlier donated the seeds along with a comprehensive training on seed nurturing and transplantation techniques led by Ambassador Tiuda himself. The project’s objective is to empower Nigerian youth and local communities through sustainable agriculture, particularly by cultivating high-value crops such as papaya, palm oil, banana, and apple.

One year on, the thriving 738 palm seedlings stand as proof of faithful stewardship and the beginning of long-term economic empowerment for the church and its members.
