DCC Maisandari Helds 23rd Annual Convention

For three days, the air in Maisandari was thick with worship, learning, and renewed commitment as believers gathered for what many now describe as one of the most impactful conventions in the history of the District Church Council (DCC).

From Thursday to Saturday, DCC Maisandari hosted its 23rd Annual Convention, drawing worshippers from eight Local Church Councils and two Local Church Branches. The large turnout and vibrant participation gave the event the feel of a true Majalisa—a celebration of faith, unity, and growth under the leadership of Rev. Julius Kaku, the DCC Secretary.

At the heart of the convention was a powerful spiritual message delivered by Rev. Paul Abraham Chandumi, the guest preacher. Teaching on the theme “Obey to Prosper,” with Deuteronomy 29:9 as his anchor scripture, Rev. Chandumi challenged believers to see obedience not as a burden but as a pathway to divine favour. Drawing lessons from the lives of Moses, Abraham, Abel, David, Mary, and Jesus, he highlighted both the blessings of obedience and the consequences of disobedience, urging participants to live out their faith practically.

Earlier, the convention was formally ushered in with a welcome address by the Chairman of DCC Maisandari, Rev. Yusuf Hassan, after which Rev. Julius Kaku officially declared the programme open.

Beyond preaching and prayer, the convention adopted a holistic approach to Christian living. Participants benefited from Bible studies, teaching sessions, and intensive prayer times, alongside practical engagements. An entrepreneurship lecture by Dr. Nkeki Mai encouraged members to pursue economic self-reliance, while a health talk on the causes and prevention of hypertension, delivered by Dr. Ijutil Chiroma, addressed a growing public health concern.

Adding colour and excitement to the programme were a Bible quiz and song competition, with churches actively participating and showcasing their gifts. Music also took centre stage as guest artist Panam Morrison ministered through song, leaving the congregation deeply moved and, as many admitted, wishing for more—though time would not allow.

Participants consistently described the convention as empowering, educational, and joyful, noting the strong sense of fellowship and spiritual renewal that marked the three days.

The convention came to a close with the Annual General Meeting (AGM), where members reviewed the progress of DCC Maisandari and engaged in frank discussions on existing challenges and the way forward.

As the curtains fell on the event, one sentiment rang clear among attendees: the 23rd Annual Convention was not only well organised but stands as one of the finest programmes DCC Maisandari has hosted—a timely reminder that obedience, unity, and purposeful planning remain key to a thriving church community.
