Retirement Service Honour of Late Rev. Jonathan D. Milila, died while travelling to EYN 79TH Majalisa

A retirement service in honour of the late Rev. Jonathan D. Milila and Mrs. Glory Jonathan has been held at EYN Church Auta Balefi, DCC Nasarawa, with ministers, church members, family members, and sympathizers gathering to celebrate the late cleric’s life of service and dedication to God.

 

The service took place on Sunday, 10 May 2026, and drew worshippers from different parts of the church community who came to pay tribute to the late minister and support his family.

Rev. Jonathan D. Milila was widely described during the event as a committed servant of God whose years of ministry impacted many lives within EYN – Church of the Brethren in Nigeria.

Representing the EYN Headquarters was Rev. Eli Samuel, Secretary to the EYN Ministers Council, who conveyed goodwill messages from the church leadership and appreciated the late minister’s sacrifices, commitment, and faithful stewardship in ministry.

In his remarks, Rev. Eli Samuel encouraged believers to remain steadfast in faith and committed to the service of God despite the challenges facing Christian communities in parts of Northeast Nigeria.

The service was filled with moments of worship, thanksgiving, tributes, and prayers for the bereaved family.

 

Church leaders and members also reflected on the tragic circumstances surrounding the death of Rev. Jonathan D. Milila. According to earlier reports by EYN News, the late minister was among those killed while travelling to attend the 79th EYN Majalisa, the church’s General Church Council meeting.

His death had sparked grief across many EYN congregations, with members describing the incident as another painful reminder of the insecurity affecting communities in the region.

Special prayers were offered for Mrs. Glory Jonathan, the entire family, and the church, while ministers urged Christians to continue promoting unity, peace, and unwavering faith in God.

Despite the solemn atmosphere, worshippers expressed gratitude for the legacy left behind by the late Rev. Jonathan D. Milila, noting that his years of service and commitment to the gospel would continue to inspire many within the church.
