In a landmark ceremony filled with prophetic fervor, the President of EYN, Rev. Daniel Y.C. Mbaya, PhD, stood before a jubilant crowd and declared God’s blessings over the land as the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria granted full autonomy to LCC Tudun Wada and DCC Sabon Gari Pubba, previously under DCC Lassa.

Standing with authority on behalf of fellow pastors and the EYN leadership, Rev. Mbaya pronounced:
“On behalf of these pastors, I stand on the authority of God and declare over this land: there shall be peace. All workers of evil waging war against the Church of God, His people, and the light of Christ Jesus—you must repent. This land belongs to Christ, and darkness shall never prevail over it.”
“The rainy season shall be a blessing upon this land. We declare blessings over our children—they will be for signs and wonders. Just as Comrade Ayuba Waba, MNI, from this land rose to become the National President of Labour, so shall our sons and daughters rise to lead this nation, our states, and our regions.”
“Let us not despise who we are or where we are coming from. From these our localities, great men and women shall rise.”
This powerful proclamation set the tone for what became a spiritually significant and historic event marking the third DCC chartered by EYN in 2025, symbolizing sustained growth and transformation in the life of the church.
A Joyous Occasion of Fulfilled Promises
The occasion was graced by respected dignitaries and elders including Major Abala M. Gadzama (Hakimi of Lassa) and Comrade Ayuba Waba MNI, former Labour National President who also hails from Sabon-Gari Lassa, in Askira Uba Local Government, Borno State.
Speaking at the autonomy service, Comrade Waba, commended the remarkable progress of the church and the elevation of its congregations, describing them as undeniable signs of divine intervention. “The growth of the church and the new status of the congregations are a direct reflection of God’s glory and favor,” he stated with delight

A Call to Unity and Growth in Christ
In his sermon drawn from Ephesians 4:3–7, 11–24, Rev. Musa D. Mbaya, Director of Missions, preached on the theme: “Unity for Growth in Christ.” He highlighted that true growth is measured not only by numbers, but by love, unity, spiritual knowledge, and service.

He posed three key questions to the congregants:
- How do we maintain unity to grow in Christ?
By zealously doing God’s work, following His commands, and upholding the oneness of Christ without discrimination. - How long should we remain united?
Until we all become mature and reflect the fullness of God’s glory. - What is the reward of unity in Christ?
We will no longer be like children, but mature believers, representing Christ with strength and integrity.
“Let us drop our old habits,” Rev. Mbaya urged, “so that we can give way for true growth in the body of Christ.”
Historical Milestones and Present Realities
LCB Tudun Wada, established on July 4, 1991, began with 35 members under the leadership of Ishaku Dali. It now stands as an autonomous LCC under the current leadership of Evang. Ibrahim Joseph.

DCC Sabon Gari Pubba, meanwhile, has grown tremendously—reaching over 1,000 members in 2025—reflecting deep-rooted faith and active evangelism within the region.
A New Chapter Begins
With prayers, praises, and joyful celebration, the autonomy ceremony concluded on a note of hope and divine assurance. The words of Rev. Daniel Y.C. Mbaya, PhD, continue to echo in the hearts of many:
“This land belongs to Christ. Darkness shall never prevail over it. From here, great men and women shall rise.”
This spiritual declaration, combined with the structural expansion of EYN, sets the stage for a new era of leadership, evangelism, and transformation.
