EYN Women Ministry Empowers Vulnerable Youths with Skills for Self-Reliance — Director

The Director of the EYN Women Ministry, Mrs. Hassana Habu, has reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to empowering young women, girls, and boys with practical skills, confidence, and the right mindset to succeed in life, stressing that empowerment remains a key pathway to dignity and self-reliance.

Mrs. Habu made this known on January 29, 2026, during an interview session organized by the EYN Women Ministry at EYN LCC Ghuma, Hawul Local Government Area of Borno State, under the Biu Centre.

According to her, the ministry’s Tailoring Skills Acquisition Programme targets young widows, orphans, and other vulnerable individuals aged 18 to 35, regardless of gender, as part of efforts to equip them with sustainable livelihood skills.

“The goal of the Women Ministry is to empower young women, girls, and boys with the skills, confidence, and mindset necessary to succeed in their personal and professional lives,” Mrs. Habu stated. “This is why the programme is open to young widows, orphans, and vulnerable persons who desire a better future.”

The Biu Centre comprises 10 District Church Councils (DCCs), namely Garkida, Kwajaffa, Shaffa, Yimirshika, Marama, Biu, Mbulamel, Billa, Bilatum, and Kidang.

At the end of the interview process, 30 participants were selected, including five males, reflecting the ministry’s inclusive approach to empowerment and community development.

The programme is part of EYN Women Ministry’s broader vision to restore hope, build capacity, and promote self-sufficiency among vulnerable populations across the church and society.
