A Spirit-Led Celebration of Youth and the Word

The 2025 Recitation and Quiz Competition was more than just a contest—it was a vibrant celebration of youthful spirituality and biblical excellence. From Local Church Council (LCC) to District (DCC) and Zonal stages, the competition culminated in this national finale filled with scripture recitations, songs, and spiritual poetry. The theme for this year, drawn from 2 Timothy 2:2, emphasized passing on the gospel to faithful individuals who will, in turn, teach others.

Sermon by Rev. Prof. Dauda A. Gavva: A Charge to the Next Generation

Rev. Prof. Dauda A. Gavva, Provost of Kulp Theological Seminary, delivered a stirring message, challenging children and adults alike to become vessels of the gospel. Referencing Apostle Paul’s charge to Timothy, he urged the young participants to internalize and pass on the truth of God’s Word.

“When children recite Scripture, they do not just echo words—they declare the living truth of God to a world in need of light,” he proclaimed.

Presidential Blessing from Rev. Daniel Y.C. Mbaya, PhD

A major highlight of the event was the presence of EYN President, Rev. Daniel Y.C. Mbaya, PhD, whose personal attendance underscored the importance of the competition. In his remarks, he applauded the children’s discipline and courage, urging them to go beyond competition.

“Let this not be the end of your Bible recitation,” he said. “Let it be the beginning of a lifelong habit of walking and growing in the Word of God.”

He concluded by pronouncing a special prayer of blessing over the children, calling them future messengers of the gospel.

A Legacy of Faith and Discipleship

The event brought together Sunday School teachers, parents, pastors, and church leaders who had supported the children throughout their journey. Their presence added to the atmosphere of shared pride and spiritual achievement. Many leaders noted that such programs are essential in shaping morally sound and spiritually grounded future leaders.

The 2025 edition of the EYN Sunday School Bible Recitation and Quiz Competition will be remembered not only for the gifts distributed but for the eternal gift of God’s Word that was planted in young hearts. The children returned home not just with prizes in hand, but with a renewed sense of purpose and the calling to become lifelong disciples of Christ.
