Boko Haram Terrorist Attack in Biji Biji Garkida, Adamawa State Raises Concerns Over Targeted Violence Against Christians

A fresh wave of violence struck Bijibiji, community in Gombi Local Government Area late Monday night, as Boko Haram terrorist carried out a coordinated assault that left homes, farms, and livelihoods in ruins. The nature of the attack, which unfolded under the cover of darkness is a clear indication that religious persecution and insecurity across northern Nigeria.

Eyewitnesses recount that heavily armed militants stormed the village, setting ablaze residential houses and destroying stored farm produce belonging to members of the community. The destruction was widespread, forcing families to flee into the surrounding bush for safety.

Among those whose properties were destroyed are Abdu Emmaga, Jacob Emmaga, Victoria Jada, Salihu Obadiya, and Jida Salihu. While no fatalities were reported, the psychological toll on survivors is immense, as many now face displacement and the loss of their primary means of survival.

This incident is not isolated. It adds to a troubling pattern of attacks on Christian communities in Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states, where Boko Haram and splinter groups have repeatedly targeted villages, churches, and schools. The EYN church, which has historically borne the brunt of Boko Haram’s violence, has seen hundreds of its congregations attacked over the past decade. Many communities have been displaced multiple times, with survivors struggling to rebuild amid limited government support and ongoing threats.
