Chibok, Borno- In a brazen attack, unknown gunmen stormed Viyang village in Chibok, Chibok Local Government Area leaving a trail of destruction of properties, carting away with valuable belongings to the residents of the village.
According to reports, the gunmen struck on Monday 3, July, 2024, around 1:00 am, making off with 15 bulls, Two bicycles, and breaking into a shop to cart away valuables. Three phones were also reported missing.
The attack has left the community in shock and fear, raising so many concerns about the escalating insecurity in the area. Just last month, a teenage boy was shot, two girls were also kidnapped and released after a huge ransomed was paid.
The vigilante men, who have been credited with maintaining peace in the area, are said to have done their best to repel the attackers but were outnumbered and outgunned.
Rev. Joel Y. Tabji, Secretary of DCC Chibok, condemned the attack and called on authorities to take swift action to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure the safety of the community.
The incident is the latest in a string of attacks in the region , highlighting the need for increased security measures to be put in place to prevent such incidents.
